Hello. I'm new to the hobby and probably splurged a bit too hard in the last month... (5 amps, 3 dacs, 2 headphones with custom cables...)
Outside of audio, I play videogames, modify my car, and race drones. Last year, I ranked #114 in the US (MultiGP Drone Racing Organization).
A video for you to watch (if you're interested) -
Hopefully, there's a meet in the Bay Area sometime soon so I can meet some of you.

Hi everyone, thanks for having me. I've been kicking around the audio hobby for the better part of twenty years now, although I don't much expect anyone would recognize me from other fora. In the past I was focused on low-power SET and vintage stuff; more recently interested in digital & dsp. Listening these days is an O2 driving Fostex planar mag cans at my desk, or Roon driving Altec Duplexes when the family is out of the house.

Hello All! Been a lurker for some time but don't feel that I'm versed enough to contribute to most conversations. I enjoy this hobby so I try to stay up to date on news and equipment but I try to take breaks since it starts hurting the pockets. Decided to make an account because I read a post that had the exact same problem as me and am hoping to get some input.
As far as gear I currently have Focal Clear, Oppo PM-3, Fostex TH-X00 (PH), and Shure SE535 ran through a Gungnir MB to Jot and Lyr 3 for headphones. Stereo setup is LS50's. Hopefully I won't be posting too much noise.

    Hiho everyone!
My name is Steffen, Im from Germany and work as a Software engineer.
After one or two years into this job i lost the interes in gaming more or less and fall in love with "real" music.
    quality > loudness.
After a hard day with support and peapole that cant start the PC were they work on i relax a home with good musik and find a bit inner peace.
So it grow into a hobby next to my koipond and watercooling my rig.

First i fell into the "Schiit is the best" trap. No i use Audio-GD(love the inner build hardware. Looks so awesome). Everything used. The LCD-X are a used pair too.
Befor that i used the HD650 but even with mods... not so spezial^^ AKG712 Pro are better for me.

If you wanan know more about me, just ask! Im open for everything and i like it to be stupid after work

Edit: Ohh im a Bass head!

I guess I should have introduced myself before jumping in the discussions. My real name is Blair, and I'm recently retired from a career in enterprise networking. Music has always been a big part of my life, and now finding myself with more time to just relax and listen has spurred me to spend more money on upgrades (sound familiar? LOL). I also enjoy cycling, golf, video gaming, and the great outdoors.

The internet is an amazing resource, and there is lots of invaluable info on this site, so thanks to the curators for their efforts and I hope I can make some contribution going forward.

Hi everyone, glad to finally get a chance to join instead of always lurking around. Definitely enjoy reading the threads on the Eddie Current and Cavalli x Massdrop threads. Thanks for opening the forums up!

    Aloha!

Living in Denver now... Enjoying this site for the digital discussions, where one can talk about how something sounds along with how it measures... you know something logical.

DAC talk brought me here, but looking forward to other discussions as well.

I'm strictly a tube amp and speaker guy, no headphones, but getting more curious about a headphone setup.

My current setup: Audirvana / Mac Mini -> Soekris dac1321 -> Modded Musical Paradise MP301 MK3 -> Zu Audio Omen DW MKII

Hi my name is Richard, I live in what is called "the east side", east of Seattle Washington. I have always had a love for music and started buying gear about 2-3 years ago.

I found out about SBAF about a year ago and have been lurking and enjoying reviews.

I started out with a Modi2u x Vali2 and some T50's. As my budget has allowed it, I purchased a Jotunheim and some LCD2's (2016 fazor). I've since sold all that minus the Vali2 which I still like for the form factor and price (Siemens E88CC/6922 tube). Next I picked up an AGD NFB1 amp and a Bifrost Uber, a Metrum Amethyst and today I have an RME Adi-2 DAC.

What I've landed on so far is Eitr > RME Adi-2 DAC > NFB 1Amp.

I have HD650's for general purpose use and music but, once I found HD800's my search for headphones stopped in earnest.

I've been to one Head-fi meet on Bainbridge island at Bottlehead HQ. I've loaned and been loaned a few other headphones and source gears from friends in the hobby. Today I'm interested in primarily source gear and finding a new headphone amp and potentially stepping into the world of near fields.

Feel free to hit me up with questions if you have any. Thanks for opening up registration again.

    **EDIT**

Almost forgot... I met @atomicbob at the Head-fi meet I went to. Bob I don't think I was memorable but I really liked your Soekris 1421 and Lyr3 combo.

Heyo everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster...
I come from Perth Australia and I love gaming on pretty much everything, photographing landscapes and people, fiddling with electronics, programming, and of course getting the best sound I can from my favourite music!

    Thanks for opening registration again!

Also a longtime lurker, My 1st post was last week as I was trying to reconcile a headphone I auditioned as overly bright with the freq. graph. Staff response included CSD and I had an "Aha" moment as it correlated much better with my listening impression. I may be old but I do like to learn new things on occasion....

    • HQ Player (WinPC) --> iPower 5V / iDefender3.0 / iGalvanic3.0 --> Singxer SU-1 --> Matrix X-Sabre Pro --> iCan Pro
    • Full-Sized Headphone: ZMF Ori (Auteur on order)
    • IEM's: 64Audio A6, Brainwavz B200
    • Portable DAP: Shanling M1

Good day. New member here, but long time audio enthusiast and active participant in the audio community in general. My name is Dan. I discovered this forum through a friend who provided a link to member atomicbob's testing of the Schiit Audio Yggdrasil DAC. Since I own the newest Yggdrasil with the Analog 2 and USB Gen 5 upgrades, I found this report quite interesting, and I appreciate the extent of his measurements.

At any rate, I built my very first high-end system in 1968, and yes, I'm getting old. Since that time I have had more gear and speakers pass through my homes than I care to admit, even to myself. I presently have several systems that I enjoy and have slowed way down on the gear swapping in the past three or four years. My studio system is in a dedicated room where the majority of my listening is done, although I have a living room system that also gets plenty of play time, and a headphone rig in my office that keeps me entertained in there. All in all, I have lots of fun with various sound systems. Music is almost always playing in my home, and the late night hours usually find me in the studio deeply engrossed in one recording after another until the wee hours. Being retired allows me the pleasure of staying up late and sleeping late. There's a lot to be said for complete ownership of one's time. It is a wonderful thing.

I am positive I will reap a healthy dose of useful information from this forum. In fact, I already have. I hope to be an interesting contributor when possible.

Ahoy there. I'm relatively new to the audio hobby. I made my first jump in with Fidelio X2's, a Schiit Modi 2U/Magni 2 stack, and JBL LSR305 monitors a couple years ago. Since then I've expanded to home theater with HTD Level Three's and a Yamaha RXV-479 receiver, and recently sold those for SVS Ultra Bookshelves and a Denon X3300W.

As of writing, my main headphone setup is an NFB-11 and HD6XX's. The Modi/Magni stack is now used primarily for desk speaker duty.

Hoping to keep moving up the audio ladder, learn a lot more on the way up, and eventually be able to help those just starting out like so many have helped me.

    Greetings all,

My name is buonassi - it's a real name, my last actually (pronounced BONE-uh-see... not that you can verbally address me). Finally got the cods to sign up here. I've read up on the etiquette and form, know what 'deference' is, and usually exemplify this sort of behavior anyway. I kinda like the premise of this site, well mostly. I think the world values "niceness" way to much and there are much better attributes to have. I plan on contributing here - and shall lurk for as long as I can hold out. Then again, I've lurked for quite a while already, so I'll prolly dip a toe here and there for now.

Joined because there is a lot of content here that has helped me out a bunch over the past year or so - mostly gear related. I'm a regular poster on CA and HF, also have some trader feedback on HF as well. I saw that @Torq just signed up at CA, so I'd figure I'd balance out the cosmos by singing up here. I'm an actual person, with a real residence in Peoria, IL and I frame up my content as though I am speaking to someone in person. While I can appreciate the anonymity of the internet, I think it's a shame that lot's of people hide behind it and act in ways they never would in person. So, I'm a little more transparent I guess you'd say, and as a consequence, a little more respectful.

Over the past few years, hi-fi has taken me by storm. I've always been into good sound more than the next music lover, but some switch went off in me and I'm chasing the dragon's tail now. I mainly listen on headphones/earphones and have a main setup at home, one at the office, and a DAP for on the go. I do more reading on D/A conversion than I really should. I become elated when I discuss things like reconstruction filters, ringing, aliasing, phase response, SD modulation, and pretty much anything related to DA conversion. I don't know why I've really latched onto this topic.

OK, that's about all I got in me for tonight. See you in the funny papers.

Hi there! My name's Xuan (which explains the 'x' in my username), been a lurker here for a few days. I'm an architecture student in the UK. Always been a fan of music, but I guess I got more into it in the recent years cuz it really helps with the stress when you're working at 4am on a design project.

It's my first post here, I figured I should at least introduce myself before jumping into any discussions. I'm relatively new to the world of audio, so I'll probably lurk around for quite a bit trying to learn more about it. I realized that I was missing out on a lot once I got my first pair of proper headphones (ATH M50X) about 3 years ago, I heard it's quite good for someone who's new to the audio world, but I'm open to any opinions. I'm thinking of getting an upgrade soon, another pair of headphones and maybe a basic headphone amp to start out my journey into the world of hi-fi. That's the main reason I made an account really, trying to learn more so I don't mess up my 2nd purchase, being a poor students means I have a tight budget :'(

From the 2-3 days that I've been on here, it seems like a nice place. I hope to learn, and maybe contribute something to the forums once I get more experienced.

Hello Folks, I am an enthusiastic headphone accumulator and an electrical engineer with a taste for transducers :)

I have way too many headphones, my favorites are my Ety ER4, Koss ESP 950 and MrSpeakers Aeon Closed. I have a lot of bargain and frankly crap cheap headphones. I find lower-mid grade headphones fun and instructive as their deficiencies and perks tend to be more obvious than top kit. To keep the juice flowing, I run a Schiit stack at home and have V20 quad on the go.
