The last couple of years of 'best of' lists, as well as my own ageing tastes, suggest this thread.

I'm thinking of more interesting/obscure people than the Stones touring yet again, but of course any and all contributions...

Three to get going. As always, start from these and explore.

First, the shoegaze anthem that shoegaze needed 25 years ago from some of its most prominent (though my own faves from that scene were Swervedriver):

Second, a couple of perhaps less well known Creation Records chaps (originally from The House of Love and Adorable):

Thirdly, Robyn Hitchcock, Gillian Welch and @Kattefjaes 's grandfather:

The second and third tracks are new. The first one is obviously a classic. I think it's the mark of a great songwriter to write a song as a young person you can meaningfully perform when you're old. "Tonight, Tonight" sung by a 50-year-old takes on an entirely different significance.

Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill. The video below is a montage of Gabriel and his band performing at different stages during his career. Given that this song was the second track from his first solo album, there was a big backlog of footage available to compile this clip from.

Probably not meeting the intention of this thread, but it captures the maturing of a musician. Makes me feel older than I have any right to feel.

btw, great idea for a thread @Biodegraded
