I'm very torn. I just scored a reasonably cheap pair of andros used from another SBAF member, and I'm quite blown away by them. I don't think I am going to cancel my noble b-day k10 order though - I think I will compare them and resell either for minimal loss.

2 different sounds it seems too, so you should be happy with either. Did you order the K10u or custom?

That'll be fun! My prediction (predictions are also fun) is that the Andro's clarity will win the day. Let us know how you find them both.

I had both. Both were great at what they attempted to do in terms of sound signature. I was FAR more partial to the signature of the K10 so the andrĂ² got sold at almost no loss.

Just be careful with that treble spike. Might have to go back to the IE800. ;)

Well, the ie800 has its own issues, a bit thin in the treble with some splashiness and a dip or something in the somewhere, dry in the mids. And yes, my views evolve over time. I'd say the real issue for most people though is the cable, it works for me over-ear, but that's really hit-or-miss with a lot of people. I wouldn't give the ie800 as a gift. The k10 would make a better choice likely to be well received and enjoyed by a wide range of people. ;)

K10U. I don't think I've yet tried any can that is as mid-centric as the K10 (either V, U, or flat-ish from all my past cans), so I have no idea what to expect or whether I may prefer it. I'm at least very happy with the andros, so at least I know I won't hit the worst-case of liking neither.

Guys it has been a couple of weeks now trying to shortlist TOTL iem and came down to the following K10U vs Andromeda. Demoed K10U for the first time for around 30mins with my LPG and was kinda 'floored'. Very coherent, smooth and effortless sound. No demo units available on Andros as yet and was wondering those here who prefers or preferred K10U over Andros, what were the key differences that helped make this decision.

    thanks

Quoting myself from earlier in the thread:

"I had both. Both were great at what they attempted to do in terms of sound signature. I was FAR more partial to the signature of the K10 so the andrĂ² got sold at almost no loss."

For me, music was just simply more enjoyable on the K10s than the Andromeda. The andros were technically wonderful, but At the end of the day, music is for listening, not analyzing (The K10 is actually technically great as well, but trying to analyze your music with the K10s is too distracting, you'll have to keep going back to the beginning because you'll keep getting lost in the music).

I should have my K10s next week. Not bad considering I ordered during the bday sale, July 2nd. Really looking forward to them.

So I've had my Savannas for the past two days now. So far they've met expectations being a less peaky Noble 4. I'm also noticing sight improvements all around in the soundstage, imaging, and overall presentation. It's not huge, but it's noticeable enough for me to appreciate it.

Like the 4, the midrange is the best part. On the right tracks, vocals can be very envolving and intimate. For the rest of my collection, I'd say the Sav is just fine for letting me enjoy the music. I've gotten lost in albums plenty of times while listening to them, without ever having a thought in the back of mind saying "this would sound so much better if...". That alone made me very happy with them.

But that said, it's still what it's always been; a neutral, clinical, dry, sort of technical sounding IEM. It will still reveal sibilance in shoddier tracks, but not once did I think it was too piercing or harsh to the point where it took me out of the music. I can only notice it if I really listen for it. It is smoother than the 4, but by all accounts, it is not a very smooth sound. I personally think it's musical enough for me to enjoy, but that's just me. Another thing is I thought at first the Savanna was pretty laid-back and distant when I first heard them, but after more listening, I started to think this wasn't the case. It is as clear as a bell as far as I'm concerned. Better fitting tips helped as well.

One thing that is mega-retarded is the huge faceplate. These things stick out at least a quarter inch out of your ear, and Im bound to get stares when there's two big copper ovals in my ears. I had a lot of trouble finding the right fit at first, but once I got the hang of it, they're pretty unnoticeable in my ear.

Your experiences mirror mine; except I think in terms of being just musical enough it just isn't for me. Still, at the $399 sale price it is a very competent IEM. I kind falter to recommend it at $499 unless the sound is really something you're after, would need a direct comparison to the cheaper ER4SR.

I'm definitely intrigued by them... They are loved by many, some that I trust... They are not loved by a few, most that I trust...only time will tell.

Yeah I definately think the Savanna is a pretty good buy at $399, but $500 is pushing it. I'm not sure if I can recommend them to anyone except precious N4 owners since the sound is so close but improved.

That said, I'm enjoying them more than the N4 and I'm getting closer and closer to finally posting the N4 in the for sale classifieds.

Can't wait to hear your impressions man. It's been almost a month since you decided to buy em, and the anticipation of waiting to see your reaction is killing me.

I really do hope you love them tho
