    Dan Sartain passed away a couple of years ago at 39, but a live recording of him and band at Sun Studio was just released on Bandcamp. All proceeds go to a fund for his daughter. An underappreciated talent who died way too young.

    Very sad about this. But hey, he was 96, and he sang the song that was my favourite at age five, 65 years ago. Island In The Sun. I had a 78rpm: I wore it out. And I still love the song.

    He had a great life outside of music and acting too.

    Rick Froberg, lead singer and guitarist for Hot Snakes, Drive Like Jehu, The Obits, and other San Diego bands, passed away last Friday at age 55 from an undiagnosed heart condition. Rick was also an accomplished graphic artist. Two of the greatest shows I've ever seen were Hot Snakes here in the Bay Area, the last time in March 2020 days before the Covid shutdown began in earnest. What a sad loss...
