Are you saying a device that can manually adjust impedance to a custom level? This could make sense, since he mentioned "presets" and this type of device might have presets to optimally match which amp you are using (Valhalla 2, Lyr, etc).

A perfect impedance match could make all the difference in the world regarding how your gear sounds and WOULD actually be more important than the amp in a sense because an amazing headphone paired with an amazing amp will still sound terrible if they are tragically mismatched.

I think I got it... maybe it's a device that mutes Trump if you happen to be listening to him on your headphone system.

that is pretty sweet - just missing the Schiit logo. Each shelf would be the exact size for the unit(s) you're using.

Hells yeah. I can finally stack Magni and Yggdrasil in style. Maybe the stand can rotate so it's easier to switch off my DAC when I'm not using it.

Seriously though, I would like to have something like that - Schitt branded display stands that are made specifically for your type of Schiit unit and that could inter-connect for different sized Schitt Gear.

I'm going to go with a volume control with a remote. That would change the sound a lot, and it would be pretty handy especially when using their amplifier products as a preamp...

I like that idea @IndySpeed. Currently I use an MCE remote with JRiver to change tracks, FF, rewind, pause, etc., but I keep my Valhalla 2 right next to my listening station and turn the volume up or down manually. JRiver MC 21 does have a nice feature though to normalize every track in your library to the same volume (volume leveling) while preserving the individual's track loud and soft sections. But a Volume control with remote would be nice.

Schiit builds a Sennator style preamp?

Am I the only one who sees no use for a hardware equalizer when software can achieve anything a hardware EQ can bar 'euphoric' analog distortion instead of hard digital clipping? Or am I missing something.

A good Hardware EQ will not have the harshness and obvious artifacts of a DSP or software EQ - while A DSP or software EQ can sound more forward. I guess the difference between a hardware and software eq is one's own personal preference and taste.

Now I am speaking of mixing and mastering - however it most likely applies to retail recordings - but I will not say for sure. For retail music, I use a DSP EQ that is actually meant for mastering tracks - Ozone 7 - I find it works pretty well

All software EQ is not created the same, you can go from crappy built-in EQ to state-of-the-art DMG or FabFilter. Its more about implementation and configuration rather than software vs hardware. Also, hardware EQ can be digital (which is essentially software/firmware) or analog (with its decades old audiophile phobia).

Well of course there is a lot of crappy stuff out there but with a good parametric EQ (such as EqualizerAPO) I personally can't see the reason for throwing another physical box on the rack for something that, at least from what I can, can be more than adequately achieved with good software. Unless you go full retard and don't adjust the preamp to avoid gain going over 0dBFS.

Not to offend or anything Alchemist, maybe my ears are just shit, but I can't imagine there being a perceivable audible difference in two good software EQs and a """state-of-the-art""" hardware solution (digital or not).

No offense taken. As I sated in my post - there is a difference when it comes to mixing and mastering audio tracks. Retail music -maybe not so much. And like I said, I use a high-end DSP plugin myself for retail music -Ozone 7. And no, your ears aren't "Shit" - you like what you like, and you prefer what you prefer, and that's all that matters - what sounds good to you. ;)

'Manhattan Project' is mentioned in a Mike Moffat interview on Audiostream.

"There is one other product that I am working on which is a new and completely different product category. It is not a D/A nor A/D converter, amplifier, DAP, nor anything resembling any product ever built in support of audio. The seeds for it were inadvertently planted when I played in a bluegrass group 50 years ago and wondered why expensive, old instruments sounded far better than newer ones. We call it “The Manhattan Project” and I have a prototype “Gadget” running which is absolutely hair raising. It operates only in the digital domain."

When someone like Mike Moffat says "absolutely hair raising", you better get the tingles.

Hmm...an "old fart" device that un-brickwalls music and makes things sound like they did back in the old days, so much better.
