Not sure on the first question on height.

Correct it does not come with 300B tubes, you will need to buy these yourself separately. If you go through this thread there is some discussion on the tubes, specifically cheap tubes.

When I put in my order, the wait time quoted was 8 weeks.

As for changes/upgrades/special requests this was also mentioned in the thread, and was not recommend for any changes unless you specifically know what you are trying to do or change. Otherwise it's recommended in the stock form Craig is going with.

Height with JJ 300Bs is about 11", but different tubes are different heights. Elrogs, for example, would be another half inch taller than that.

I've got about 2.5" clearance between the top of the tubes and an MDF IKEA shelf above, which seems fine. No discoloration or warping from heat. Appropriate distance obvs depends on material of the shelf.

If you place an order, Craig is happy to recommend tubes. He recommended the JJs to me over the Electro Harmonix and Genelex Gold Lions, which are all around the same price.

I'm interested. Bought an Aficionado earlier this year and enjoying it immensely. Would love to own another EC amp before they no longer become available. Called Craig twice but no luck in actually reaching him to inquire about availability.

If SBAF can arrange a group order to make it easier for Craig, that would be great. I feel bad about pestering him, and he's very hard to get a hold of.

Email is the best way to get ahold of him or Miss Judi.

Craig wants order forms (no money) from all those interested in an amp. If he gets enough, then he will do another run. Sent my order today... hope there are enough others

Craig is burning in my amp, it will be shipped next week.
Hopefully the amp will arrive just in time so I'll be able to enjoy the Studio B a little before going on holidays.

    Hello seniors,
I have ZDS, I am interested in Studio B descriptions so far, but I don't remember the two signatures are being compared in this thread. I am well aware of the different design between the two amps, OTL vs OTP and all.
Apologize if I missed the post as I can't find the feature to search this thread only so I only based on memory.

For those who happened to listen to both and care to share some comparison in terms of bass weight, vocal/instrument texture detail, soundstage, I really appreciate it.

For baseline, I describe ZDS bass as FAST, hit hard and disappear fast (compared to Stratus). Forward, round, seductive , heart melting vocals, very nice smooth extended treble. Widest soundstage of all amps that I've ever heard.

    Thank you in advance.

I emailed him my order form, and I tried to call him (multiple times) to confirm receipt just in case his email spam filter blocked my email address. But I've not been able to reach him and have no indication that he received my emailed order form. :(

ZDS may slam a bit more on the account of it's higher Zout which will provide a fractional bass boost at the resonant frequency of dynamic drivers such as the HD650/600/800. It was tuned by ear to work with those headphones.

Studio B is isn't as midbass punchy, but lower bass has more heft. The ZDS is slightly faster than prior iterations of the ZD, but still not quite as fast as Studio B overall. It's also slightly more veiled. Studio B bass articulation and delineation is on par or better than the best solid-state headamps. Headstage on Studio B is on another level better than ZDS. Don't get me wrong, headstage is amazing on ZDS - but Studio B destroys it. Everyting is relative. Headstage expansiveness and imaging localization will depend upon tubes. Texture, microdetail, microdynamics, Studio B is up a level or a level and a half from ZDS. ZDS is a BMW 6 series. Studio B is a 911 Turbo. They are kind of different, although complementary. Collect them all like Pokemon.

Don't worry, Craig and Judi are very serious people. But as with any person/business, sometimes it takes a little time to deal with the daily activity. So allow them a few days to get back to you and if you don't have a feedback after a couple of weeks, just send a kind reminder, it works very well.

Thank you Marv, that's quite convincing coming from you. Now I have to squeeze space, stack something somewhere and submit business case to wife for the next Pokemon.

I can put together an interest thread to assist potential buyers and Craig/Judi. Last word subject to change was that he would do another run if sufficient interest.

I wanted to get on the Studio B list, but too busy, and also I did not want to take a spot because I got a few personal inquires on this amp who were really interested. I already have a custom EC amp, so I didn't want to take someone else's spot.

@Marvey, may I know how many is considered 'sufficient interest'?
It is fine if it is not convenient to share the number, or maybe just ballpark, >5? >10?
Just want to get the feeling how far are we from the new run.

Has anyone tried the Studio B/Junior with a Susvara or HE6?
Can it deliver that much current at those loads?

Have to ad that it powers my HE500 very well at its ~87 db/mW...

Anyone powering efficient speakers with your Studio B? I know virtually nothing about speakers and I'd love to get a pair to use in my reasonably small room with the Studio B. I know some folks who love these Omega speakers. I don't really have any budget in mind yet, but trying to see what options there are really. I am in the UK, so ideally I'd find a UK vendor and not ship 100lbs of bespoke speaker across the pond...

My Klipsch R-51M's sound very good on the Junior. But I will buy one of those Hood 1969 replicas for comparison.
I can only imagine the RP600M sounding even better. But these are lower end speakers.
Have not tried any of the big boys yet, but I think they will sound great.

I wish this amp was a bit more neutral it sounds incredible but I don’t want a warm amp unfortunately. And I’ve got the Yggdrasil A2. Sounds Ike the Studio would be an awesome amp for me.
