When I click the template link, I am directed to a OneDrive page that says "This link doesn't work anymore. Contact the owner of this item for a new link."

This was at work (where I wanted to print it), at home, and on my mobile.

I wonder why it isn't working. I have the blutack in and was hoping to apply the felt mod this weekend along with it.

Same here. I might have actually saved it somewhere but I'm sure that ohgourami will sort that out.

EDIT: Found it and uploaded it. Started a conversation with @Artasia. If you also need it, PM him, so he can invite you to this conversation (or send you the link).

If you find it, any chance you could PM me the PDF at your convenience?

I just scanned my pads on a printer to get the exact shape and size for the cutouts for my pair of Audeze pads.

LOL, how could I not realize that you could just attach .pdf files. I think I tried.

I hope to get these mods completed today. I just got around to bending the HE-6 headband, after owning them since August, and would highly recommend it if you have too much clamp or if the leather strap is not conforming properly to the top of your pate.

    Hardwire HE-6 + @ohhgourami mods completed.

Very good, full-bodied sound. Nothing else quite like it. If you're willing to sacrifice a little bit of resolution, this is easily one of the best headphones.

Sounds amazing on my Pass amp.

I agree. I'm enjoying the modded HE-6s I grabbed off @AustinValentine out of the taps on my Cambridge Azur 851A -- resolution and maybe staging are the main nitpicks I have.

I'll keep an ear out at meets for top-flight HE-6 setups in addition to the usual suspects. I have a feeling that I might prefer the HE-6 over other modern-production flagships.

I'm in the middle of all this right now (scary!) but have a question. If I'm going to choose to keep the vegan pad screens on right now, is it possible or even necessary to put the felt O on the back of the pad?

Hypothetically it's possible but it would be pretty hard because the adhesive would be grabbing on to the velour and leather like crazy. It's a pretty tight squeeze. I suppose you could slip the felt with the backing on and cut the outside larger to keep it in place.

Yes. I did keep the screen on mine and placed felt without problems. It looks like some people were able to turn the pads inside out to make this easier, but it was not necessary in my case.

Thanks @cskippy and @Artasia , I'm going to do without the felt for now. I've had the Vegan pads installed for many months, and didn't think about the ability to invert the pads, because I had those rigid Audeze rings inside as well, a good idea.

All done with grill removal and blu tack mods. Some tips from a noob to other noobs:

    1. Butter knife made taking off the retention ring a breeze

    2. When reinstalling the driver with blu tack, make extra certain the screw holes line up well when pushing down, having to try this again is a PITA with the blu tack already pushed in

    3. The wiring can be fragile, I had to re-solder both leads (negative at connector, postive at driver) as I put just a little too much tension on wires when I had the driver uninstalled.

    4. Don't be an idiot like me and melt the cup when fixing #3... I guess I'm keeping these forever! [IMG][/IMG] [IMG]

Thanks to @ohhgourami and everyone else who has contributed to laying this mod out, this thread was extremely helpful. Also shoutout to @AustinValentine who sent me the Blu tack and felt a while ago

Some pics of the process if curious http://imgur.com/a/hT1Dv (edit: don't use this much blutack, I used much less on the second driver and it was still fine, like a piece of spaghetti)

Impressions will have to wait til another day. Also I'm a genius and haven't listened to my pair (prevously stock but with Vegan pad) in a few weeks so they will be limited

That's quite a lot more blutack than expected. Glad it went relatively smooth for you. Hope you like the sound and post impressions!

Yeah it was, it did push out easily though. I learned that as I went on and used less the second time (about the thickness of a twist tie or spaghetti). I got really distracted when I disconnected the driver and stopped taking pictures.

As I said, I hadn't listened stock+vegan for a couple weeks, so impressions are a little limited. The bass seems a bit more forward but still tight, with the overall profile sounding more "full". The way the bass and midrange blend together is really something, as there's definitely heft in the bass but the midrange shines through unabated. It also has a wider stage and feeling of openness, unsurprisingly.

I still get some treble fatigue after a long session with the mods, but it doesn't sound that bright. This happened with stock too, so I'm glad I left the vegan screen on.

Overall I'd feel comfortable saying from strictly a macrodynamics/FR perspective this is the best headphone I've ever heard. It might have been stock+vegan anyway, but this is definitely my ideal FR minus the slightly irritating and uneven treble

I should have done this 8 months ago, or at least the grill removal to start.

If you're getting some fatigue, it's probably because you haven't done the felt mod to the vegans. Seems almost trivial but that fatigue goes away.

Good to know. Even at the expense of cutting the screen off? Will try either way, I'll cut the screen off only if I have to, in a couple weeks

No need to cut the screen. The felt will fit.

Protip on felt ring with screens: Make the felt insert using the template, and simply cut through one thin end of the felt ring, WAY easier to move adjust into place in the tight working space.
