He was there for you in February (your earlier post) and you did the right thing by him, although it’s such a terribly hard decision to make. I’m so sorry for your loss and hope that the memories you have of him are of some comfort.

It is heart wrenching for our furry companions to leave our lives, but all the years of companionship, mischievousness, hilarious antics and calm purring cuddles are worth it. This time I remembered to take many pictures for quiet remembrances in the future.

You have my deepest sympathies, Bob. I know it feels like the world turned upside down in such a short time, because it has, but trust that over the rainbow bridge, Dr. Emmett is forever thankful for everything you gave him. He was loved!

Just spent a month in Japan. They have some crazy shit for their dogs and they love Americana - I took full advantage for a certain young man. Very cool in his Lee Riders and t-shirt ha ha

 

Welcome back! Not that you've been totally away. But... Not quite totally here.

 

I had a lot of dog clothes for my chihuahua when I lived in China. They were so cheap on taobao and he was short-haired in a cold climate. When we went to Korea last year my wife got a doggy hanbok for our current baby.

Dog racing is illegal in most US states, and there are very few places left even where it isn't IIRC. Hopefully it's completely irradicated soon.

 

Last place left for Dog Racing is in WV, used for simulcasting for betting in various OTBs/Betting Places within the US. Here in FL voters banned dog racing via vote in 2018. The adoption centers were so overfilled with Greyhounds that they couldn't keep up with the volume of the dogs coming in. Almost all of those dogs were in good shape when they were handed over to them.

My local Racino is in Daytona Beach. At the time of dog racing those places get super crowded. Of course as generational changes take place, less and less people attend the dog racing. Also dog racing is more seen as a southern thing. As FL keep growing with population from those who aren't from the South, more and more people were against the practice. Now the Racino is a shell of its former self. One half of the Racino is the OTB room that's full of the old farts who retired from the north. The other half is the Poker Room where you find the current generation playing cards, it is also how the Racino still makes money.

FL had a bunch of Racino of dog racing throughout the state, but over the years they got converted to Poker Rooms or they went out of business. One Racino near Jacksonville got tore down and became housing developments. However, those housing developments are still on "Racetrack Road" for the street name.

I will say this, people care so much about the dogs and dog racing, but barely anyone give a shit about horses and horse racing. Double standard here.
