Many upgrades to your system. We really need a @brencho system thread to keep updated. Best of the best right there...

I'm pretty sure you're missing a Synergistic Research de-something-izer to make the air sound better.

    <-- Laughing cat laughs!

    I'll try.

Should I ever visit your place, just watch out for that look in my eye if I'm standing near the turntable.

All to no avail without the cat's approval. A scratching post on each speaker helps.

Ahhh, Garrard 301 in fantastic shape. Stock bearings or has it been modded?

This has an original bearing, not a modded/newly machined part. Steve disassembles and goes through each part of the garrard itself, including the bearing, and trues the idler wheel on a lathe. Even if someone had a garrard they wanted a plinth for, Steve asks them to ship it in to him to put together. The main thing to do in terms of upkeep is to put a couple drops of oil on its oil reservoir felt washer twice a year, and every few years, to clean the idler wheel and the inside of the platter where the idler comes into contact with the idler wheel. The interesting thing about these tables is they were meant to run 24/7 for radio station use, so it should live a long life.

Another issue entirely, but Steve makes a super impressive magnetic direct drive beast of a table called Kodo the beat. Super cool table but also super pricey.

Thanks, if I'm ever jumping on the vinyl wagon, the 301 will be my starting point.

That's the Kodo deck you mentioned, right?

White KEFs = love. Those with blue coaxial drivers were hot as hell.

New NAD 316 is alright. Grado Sonata. AT440mla awaits.

As does my table, but the floor works.

To go el'cheapo route, you could try Vibrapods. Several of these buggers could actually work if your setup's on the floor.

Couple hours on it. Pleasant tone. That's about all I should say so far.

A Grado Sonata, a Grado Sonata2 and an Audio Technica 440MLa.
