Right, but as @Michael Kelly explained there's an alternative location for the jumper. It all works now.

It seems I have several apologies to make for the board. Unfortunately it was done sort of as a side project and not put through the official process so there isn’t even a user manual for it.

Thank goodness you folks are very patient and understanding!

No need to apologize. We should be (and are) thankful for even providing it in the first place!

Now, if you want a fun COVID side project: I know a Bifrost 2 that could use an add-on I2S card ;):p

Sure, but I don’t think Schiit would give me the specs to their plug in card.

Hence why I said "fun". Reverse engineering is fun, right? :p

I'm in for such Gungnir board!. Would pay up to $250 if it's not a mass production ;). Even if it looks ugly!

After reading 126 pages of this forum, I have decided to put in my order for the PI2AES, The major decision factor is seeing Michael being here and replied to all the questions and helping members and clients resolving issues. I was about to order Allo Digione Signature but I really feel Michael is doing an excellent job here. I am super excited about my order, the wait will be killing me :)

Really glad you're on board and sorry about the slow pace of production. The good news is we have a large batch under production now that will be ready to ship by the end of August. It's over 100 units and should sweep up all back orders and give us some stock for once! And we will continue the production levels for the foreseeable future.

    Cheers,
    Michael

I'll need to buy a few more for myself and friends. Some folks are paying my son to build them.

I wasn't sure about buying them because I didn't want to hog up the supply.

And that is exactly what we were afraid of all summer long! But, I am continuously encouraged by the faith that the SBAF‘ers have placed in us and our product. Despite the bumps and roughness of getting this into full production, you have rarely complained or given us bad reviews because of it. From the inside here it’s easy to know that the issues are legitimate and somewhat beyond our control, but to outsiders it can often look like incompetence or poor management.

    Thank you so much!

    Michael

Dumb question (for anyone): what is a good 7" screen that will work with the case that supports it. Want to update the dummies guide.

We did our acrylic case design around the official raspberry pi 7 inch display. It has the advantage of using the DPI interface, thus leaving the HDMI ports for standard monitors. And it seems to be well supported by the audio players out there including our ROPIEEE for the ROON fans. Obviously there are also a number of existing cases for it, but they don’t solve the problem of the add-on boards, including ours.

Which LPS did 502DAC users find to be especially good, and did using one make a significant difference versus using the Pi to power the hat?

To all the PS Audio folks out there, I finally got off my butt and did something I should have done a long time ago. I made an adapter that drops onto the PI2AES and drives the I2S over HDMI for PS-Audio. I need a couple of guinea pigs to test since even something this seemingly simple is something I can easily mess up! Send me an email ([email protected]) and tell me what DAC you have and how soon you could test. I will have the first protos ready in hand about 2-3 weeks from now.

    CHeers,
    Michael

BTW, I will also consider making other adapters for different DAC‘s. As long as there’s a moderate amount of interest in any one particular DAC.

@Michael Kelly started assembling mine, two missing items:

    1. No 6-32 screws to fasten the display to the case. Please confirm they are indeed bizarro UNC screws on an otherwise metric device before I order? Its a 5 euro item with a 10 euro shipping fee so I'd like to be sure.
    2. One of my Pi2AES is missing the power jumper, any idea where to order one? I haven't needed one since the early 90s and I've no idea what they're actually called to even search for a place that sells them.

I’m really sorry for the trouble you’re having with this.

    1. They are 6-32 screws because the bracket supplier did not have that style in metric.

We will rebate you cost of the screws in the shipping. Just send an email to [email protected]

    2. As for the .1” (2.54mm) jumper plugs, which is what they are called by the way, we will also rebate you the cost to get them. Amazon carries them, but pretty much any electronics or computer parts supplier will have them.
