Recommend a good preamp for a ~$1,000 budget

    Hi I am currently using a marantz receiver and have an emotiva amp, but would like to upgrade for better audio quality.

    I mostly use a Raspberry Pi streamer as source (connected to a topping-like DAC, which then goes into the receiver). I have triangle Br03 speakers.

    Would I see any benefits switching to a separate preamp that would be supported by the emotiva amp?

    What model Marantz receiver? What model Emotiva amp? Do you need balanced connections? Tubes, no tubes, no preference?
