Been loving some Pokemon Mods, and some playstation games on my Miyoo mini. It is quite small a little cramped but it has features and a screen that is difficult to improve upon for its price point and size.

Makes me want to mod a Gameboy and add a clock mod as the fast forward lets me play more in less time

Speak of the devil, just picked one up for the flight to Hawaii. Ended up playing oracle of ages. Love how small it is.

So where are some of the good websites to buy a completed MiSTer FPGA kit with hopefully a case?

With more arcade cores being ported on top of PSX and WIP Saturn I think it is time for me to jump in it within a few months.

@YMO - misteraddons has been on my radar because they have a nice passive cooling aluminum case. This appeals to me less because of noise and more because I don’t want to worry about dust inside. It’s not in stock now but seems to be coming in October

    https://misteraddons.com/collections/kits-1/products/mister-pre-configured-bundle-with-aluminum-case

The finished product looks good but the I saw a vid where it’s installed and it looks super awkward(sides need to be bent a little to fit in). I might go with my own casing

I found a UK site that has unpopulated PCBs and I’ll probably go that route

I have a pile of SNES games and an original SNES that is beyond long in the tooth. I saw that the company that makes the Pocket also makes an SNES model and signed up for notifications on the next batch, does anyone know how often they go on sale?

Also is it worth it to get a single system replacement machine like that or should I be looking into Pi emulation? I am using a Pi4 with my Pi2AES but I have a spare Pi3 I could switch to for that and put the Pi4 towards an emulator. Those MiST options seem pretty expensive, is that the only option?

I saw...and it is temping to get this over Mister FPGA. I just purchased an OLED Switch so for the next month I'm seeing if my habits are more for portable use or TV use. Then again Mister can run more stuff due to its chip have a lot more logics it can run.

    No one knows.

Pi emulation is great for casual fair on a good price. MiSTer is more for those who demand the best and want to try to cut off as much input lag as possible.

MiSTer will always have the focus for years to come. High upfront cost...but high long-term ROI.

GF keep bugging me for a birthday gift for me (since I'm getting older next week), so Mister FPGA get without the nice case from Mister Add Ons. Did order a separate case for it from Etsy. Already got a 512GB card ready to go for it.......

They announced a final run of Super NT and Mega SG consoles. Debating whether to get one since I plan on building a MiSTER anyway

I have a mega SG and I can say I’m not using it ever FWIW.

The only devices I recommend these days when people ask me are a MiSTER, the analogue pocket, the Miyoo mini due to its size and the steam deck unless you need to play your original carts but I’ve dumped my collection years ago.

Mister is great for when I feel like playing Megadrive and Saturn stuff on my OLED.

I had a fleet of RGB modded consoles hooked up to a Framemeister a few years ago. None of them are hooked up anymore and we have two MiSTers in the house.

The power move is to have more than one OLED so your monitor and your TV and your other things are all OLED.
