Here's what made me think about it today:

These are the guys I got the term from:

I think this is a good example as well:

    Always a good time:

What comes to mind when you hear the words "riff worship"?

Greatest of all time riff king Al Cisneros(not Tommy Iommi? Blasphemy!) riffs the riff outta this for 15min:

The Sword's first 2 albums are jam packed with riffs:

Matt Pike has also been known to drop a riff or 2, here's one with High on Fire:

and it just seems irresponsible not to have this here:

@Erroneous , my apologies - but only slightly, because this one's memorable for sure:

Thad Jones was lead trumpet for Count Basie for some time. I think he writes a great riff, usually very playful vibe with clever use of syncopation and some tight turns for flavor. Some of the solos in this track ramble a bit, but I love the head.

Insanely catchy riff in this Bill Withers track:

Pretty much the entire genre of future funk is just riff worship chopped and screwed from disco tracks:

Also, how is there no dub or reggae in here yet:

And here's a reverse-Bolero (starts stacked and dies over a long time) from one of my favorite noise/post-metal/drone bands - pretty much riffing the same thing over 18 minutes:

I love this thread. Including, and perhaps especially, some of the more. . . lateral minded entries. Looking at you, @Wilson

Honestly, the first thing to come to mind is the Million dollar riff segment from Australian game show Rockwiz. Couldn't find it on Youtube: https://aso.gov.au/titles/tv/rockwiz-episode-1/clip2/

There are better songs on the live Weld album. But this is four guys who'd been been playing a simple song for 20 years, absolutely nailing it, yet free and loose. And my God, that sound:

    Similarly:

Eric Clapton, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Steve Winwood learning at Howlin' Wolf's knee. From the London sessions, 1970:

    Dept. of the bleedin obvious:

Whoever made this video understood they were building a temple, and costuming a priest. Lenny played drums, not guitar, in the studio.

Ah, it seems I can only post 5 pieces of media per post. Continuing on from my previous post:

Rhythmically bonkers intro, so riffage, much heavy:

I know we've had Sleep and Tommy Iommi already, but if Sleep take the trouble to put out an EP titled Iommic Life it seems churlish not to include it.

Is the first 17 seconds of this a riff? I worship it.

Actually, the melody line on the guitar that follows might qualify better: I worship that too.

There are a few of my favorites. Always start nodding the head a little and breakout the airguitar.
