RMAF 2021

I have reservation for a hotel and am now thinking about cancelling. The show exhibitor list looks pitiful, which is understandable given various travel restrictions. Are you attended? from where? What are your thoughts?

I think I am giving up on the idea of CanJam and any sponsored event. I'll stick with the small local meets where people bring their own synergies, stories, and tunes.

 

But Qobuz is going to be there!! Don’t you want to hear all the uhhh streaming bits they will have on display??

 

I used to be able to walk over to RMAF in past years, and it was also right off the light rail. Then they moved it up to a more expensive and difficult to access place in nowhereville, and then COVID. Not likely to be attending in the near future.

 

Why no Topping?!

 

And alcohol.

 

I think you can take light rail to 61st and Peña, then the Gaylord has a free shuttle. If I go, I will be at a hotel right near that stop.

 

Man just saw RMAF is permanently cancelled now.


Sucks, shows are a massive ordeal to put on but seems like stresses of the past year combined with what I imagine was possibly vendors getting cold feet has killed another show.

 

Yeah, this sucks, bad situation all round.

Do I dare say it though...... this was always a possible, if not probable, if not likely outcome. Any trade show or conference trying to go in-person again with the threat of COVID still looming was always going to be a huge risk. But if this is your livelihood, I suppose it ends up being a case of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

 

Shitty situation without a doubt.

I was talking to some friends and seems like probably the combo of no shows two years in a row was too much for them. Combined with just how much time and effort it was to organize an event like this.

Doesn't help that your core attendees for these types of shows is going to be the at risk group.

Organizing this is a full time endeavor by itself and unless you probably do have backing for it, its certainly becoming harder and harder to pull off.
