So it's gonna happen again. The date for CJE 2016 has been officially announced, located in Essen, Germany just like the last couple of years. Book your flights, make hotel reservations, I'll be seeing you there.

So far, just the date and location are confirmed, but I have insider information that it'll be swell again and there'll be more gear than you could possibly hear in two days. Keep an eye on http://www.canjam.de/ and https://www.facebook.com/canjam.europe/ for more information.

Disclaimer: My wife's organizing the event, so yes, I'm somewhat biased.

I have to see if I can get a work assignment in Europe during that time. I will visit film post production facilities in Europe from time to time.

Or, you know, you could join as an exhibitor at CJE16. :)

Craig's water main outside his house broke / exploded in the cold weather. I think he may be down a couple thousand dollars, so a lot of meet plans this year may be doubtful.

Just as an aside, contrary to what people may believe, Craig isn't getting filthy rich driving a Datsun GTR around the streets of Calabasas racing the likes of Justin Beaver. He drives a cheap Miata, lives in a haunted house (no seriously, it really is a haunted house, and there's zero water pressure), and has dependents to take care of.

If I can somehow make it, I'll sign up as an exhibitor for sure.

Don't worry, I wasn't tooo serious about you exhibiting in Germany. We obviously wouldn't mind, but as long as we find a way to get as many enthusiasts as possible to Essen in September, I'm happy.

I opened a thread in the private meet area of Tellementnomade.org's forum. we're used to organize meets with shitloads of good gear and I'm convinced a few french hobbyists of our community will be glad to come as community exhibitors. :punk:

I guess there's some americian stuff like EC , DNA amps , Bottlehead , Schiit stuff or whatever the German pro exhibitors won't ever bring to that canjam. It would be funny if some other community in EU could come as well.

Where in France would this meet be hosted? I could always try to get to you guys. I could ask a few friends as well. Maybe the guy behind Schiit Europe and Magna Hifi with Audio GD might be interested to join. I could always reach out to them to check.

Edit: never mind the above. I misread what sorrodje said. Should be fun!

That is totally awesome, much appreciated! I've started a thread on German Hifi-Forum, asking, amongst other things, for ideas for the community part of the event. Truth be told, the community area was fairly deserted at the CJEs so far. I guess it speaks for the quality of the show that everybody was so busy trying exhibitors' gear, but it's also kinda sad, because the community idea is what the whole event evolved from. @Deep Funk might remember our tiny Berlin meet years ago at Hifi im Hinterhof. :)

At CJE13 and CJE14, "fenced off" space with its own security was set aside for the community on the show floor and last year, tables were reserved at the cafeteria, we're looking for other options. Users at Hifi-Forum have suggested meeting at a bar or restaurant on Friday or Saturday evening, so as not to collide with CJE's opening hours. Another option would be to meet at a set time and place during the event. We could even try to organize a "guided tour" through the show and ask exhibitors to reserve time for the community mob. The community could have exhibition tables right at the show itself too, if people were willing to show off their setups and if enough people would agree to manning the booth throughout the entire event.

Any more suggestions? It would be awesome if we could get a stronger community showing at this year's event and even more amazing, if we could get a pan-European/internetional crowd together. Headphone love is universal! :)

I definitely think that community and pro exhibitors should be mixed. Would help ehtousiasts and professional to meet each other and would allow us to avoid the any segregation between two class of exhibitors. Any community exhibitors should have one or several tables shared if necessary with some other hobbyists.

The basic idea IMO is to think to the visitor. He shoud be able to hear and discover what the headphone world has to show at this CJE. If the exhibitor is a professional or a hobbyist doesn't matter that much, right ?

To allow Hard core hobbyists and professional to meet and chat during the day would be great. Please keep me a place near to Jan Meier. I'm one of his biggest fans !

That small meeting made me realise a stock HD800 is good but it depends.

High rollers have their reasons. As long as I have no actual need or system (budget) I stay out of that territory.

Just keep in mind that most of the visitors will be regular hifi enthusiasts or simply the "general public" interested in headphones, not necessarily community members and headphone enthusiasts. So community tables should be recognizable as such, so as not to confuse regular visitors.

Not that I'm opposed to the idea, but I don't necessarily think that mixing "pro" and community tables would improve the exchange between both. From experience, exhibitors are busy with booth visitors most of the time, so the best opportunity to talk to each other is when you're not on booth duty and have time to stroll around the show. I remember that two years ago, I tried a few time to check out InEar's Stagediver 4 at the neighboring booth, but those pesky visitors kept me from moving even a few meters from my own table. :) I still haven't tried the SD4.
Again, that's not to say that tables shouldn't be mixed if there were to be community tables. I'm just not sure if it would mean community members would have much opportunity to talk to other exhibitors.

Hello there, unknown Danish dude with a love for Meier gear. :) Like it or not, I'll be bringing you a Nuremberg football scarf to CJE16.
