@schiit: This is, uh, a really lame question. But what does the Jotun look like from the rear without an add-in module inserted? Just blank metal with a black screw-head, I'm guessing?

Sounds good. Planning a mini-meet at my house (or at a hotel if it gets too big) on Saturday Sept 3. Although I'm betting by that time, I'm sure more than a few people will have them.

Those headphones weren't ours...they were Jason Lord's. He happened to have them there, he offered, and the rest is history.

    1. I never said you guys needed it to fit into that chassis size ;)
    2. We never thought it would be possible to fit Multibit into a Modi-sized chassis |\/|

There's a big sexy sticker over all the holes. (A thick, 0.015" polycarbonate sticker, you won't poke your finger through that guy.)

Damn the chassis size, if this new topology is the next big thing, design another statement amp.

I choose to believe Marvel, not some crazy Swede. We all know they can't speak properly.
    Citation:

(Actually, that video was awesome. She's pronouncing it pretty much how I am, though. Now I want to hear them from an Icelander.)

I think he already did. It's going to be inside the speaker amp.

I never said we were limited to that chassis size, either. But that's a discussion for another day. Personally, I like the Mjolnir 2, and I don't have a huge desire to kill the circlotron topology or mess with its tube implementation much.

On a more philosophical level, though, there are always things in play...and not all of them will become products. Will Mike be able to cram a multibit DAC into Jotunheim? Maybe. Will wireless protocols stabilize enough that a wireless card becomes a neat option? Maybe. Will Bluetooth ever be able to do lossless audio (we will not discuss it until it can). Maybe. Will we come up with something else cool to throw in there? Maybe.

People who know us, know we play the long game. Jotunheim's options today will not be Jotunheim's options in the future. It's overbuilt, it has a super-long warranty, and it's designed to be a versatile platform for the long haul.

The amp section is as good as we can make it, without going to truly big-$ stuff (like choke-input power supplies)...consider that the Jotunheim ALREADY has a 100% linear power supply with a 48VA transformer, 6 total rails, 4 regulated rails (2 by discrete regulation, not chip reg--and chips are only for the servo), 65000uF of filter capacitance, a 4-layer board with intense effort put into bypassing, exotic 2SC, 2SA, and 2SK actives, a fully discrete, differential stage with low feedback that is constant across the audio band, no coupling caps anywhere in the circuit, a differential servo that sums the audio crud down to virtually nil, a custom Alps RK27114 volume pot, real Neutrik connectors, and is made in California (really).

If people dismiss it based on secondhand listening impressions, cool...maybe we won't go out of stock. In the long run, I've seen that quality always speaks for itself. Our best products continue to grow in sales, long after the first flush is off.

Don't worry, we're not dropping this topology...and we're extending it to a SE CFA as well...

If I still had decent headphones, I'd be all over one of these. Even as just a prelude to what might be in the rumored speaker amp.

    What's an "SE CFA"?

Sorry. Single-Ended current feedback amplifier. I went all engineer-y there for a sec.

I wonder if you have compared jotunheim with Valhalla 2? Thanks

I am surprised there isn't a warning on ketchup packets saying you need to open them before eating due to choking risk.

Pardon my ignorance, would that be a type of SET or is SET a distinct topology from SE CFA?
