And I was just considering building a super symmetry headphone amp. Estimated cost would have been ~$400 so this spoils things for me! I would likely opt for phono over the DAC module.

Any idea what pot it has? Would be nice to have a smaller preamp for my monitors, but I guess NFB-1AMP is still way ahead for that purpose.

edit: Looks like Alps RK27114 from the video.

Can someone ask if this thing is stable down to 4 ohm loads and what it outputs at 8 ohms?

    SchiitShow 2: This Changes Everything

is the title of the thread in HF. I am sure this Schiitshow is more than Jotunheim. It might be Schiit's strategy to provide a preview of many good things to come (in the show.)

Reading up on all this makes this look like a mini Mjolnir (1).

They just released the Modi MB. Even though they like disrupting their own line up I doubt that even they would cannibalize their own product a few weeks after it's out.

Not necessarily. The Jotunheim would be the star of this show, but they will have their other products on hand. Remember they released the multibit modi recently, and are planning 2 channel announcements at RMAF.

Since the phono module is balanced I wonder if this means that there is a possibility of a future balanced standalone phono with XLR inputs?

Would you go through the 4 pin up front or do the preouts in back get the same signal?

Loki is a Jotunn, Vali, Magni, Modi are Aesir or Vanir, Ragnarok is an event, Wyrd is a concept, Gungnir and Mjolnir are weapons. The only locations are Valhalla, Asgard, and Jotunheim. A case could be made for the bridge and the tree being locations, too, but Bifrost isn't always in one place, and Yggdrasil contains the entirety of existence.

pretty sure it's the front jack that gets all the juice. I believe Marv was doing this with the Mjolnir a few years ago when he posted his DAC comparison on Head-Fi.

Still, I'm holding out hope for a speaker amp. No reason for Judy to make a video about that since it's not head-fi anyway.

Just learned the jot's preouts are still active even when a headphone is plugged in. This is not good IMHO. The audience for the Jot is likely t be folks that what an integrated device and don't want to have to deal with extra hassle of turning off the speakers or dedicated speaker amp opposite the headphones.

Alternatively, I might get the Jot to replace my Liquid Carbon if the jot sounds as good. The LC however, sits at the end of the chain, afternoon an integrated amp that power speakers.

Well, it will be interesting to see how the jot is received and how it's used on the desktop.

Still don't know if the preouts are fixed or variable.

You didn't "learn" this. Someone (erroneously) mentioned that Schiit's existing products do this, and you assumed Jotunheim was the same. Let's wait for confirmation from the show today on technical details like this.

Ill second this. If I can use this as an inexpensive solution to run nearfields I will be snapping one up.

Actually, mediahound's post on HF isn't even correct. I know that valhalla2 automatically disables the pre out when headphones are plugged in. Mjolnir2 however does not do this. Indeed, let's wait for a non Jude reveal to find out. I have it on good authority that we will find out pretty soon now...

I will note that no other schiit amp has fixed preouts though, all are controlled by volume pot.

I'm looking for another amp just at the right time, and right in my price range. Stars aligning...

Yeah. I have commented elsewhere that I was holding out to see if they were going to make something with balanced pre's that was cheaper than Mjolnir2. I was concerned with ability to drive the senns though especially if SS, but differential drive with that much power at 300 ohm is impressive. I still have my concerns, but once news officially hits, I hope we will get impressions that may already exist...

EDIT: I keep noting differential drive because that (in theory) will let it swing big voltage more quickly/efficiently than if single ended.

Sorry, it was late when I read the post on HF and it was sandwiched between two posts from Alex Martin of Schiit, so I erroroneusly thought it was from Schiit. I will stand by for an official answer to that question.
