    I would guess that it would be the linear phase option, not the minimum phase option.

    I'm gonna have to keep an eagle eye on the Gungnir page to see if it gets a changed to say 4490 though, that's a dac I would like to hear, quite a bit

    They will probably just ship them and not necessarily update the web page in time like with Modi. I'm just guessing. I don't have inside information, but I do know how hard it is to keep information always up to date with running changes.

    FYI, the "tweaked Modi" I used in the blind test against the ODAC was a 4490 Modi. This sits at my computer at home. The bigger Schiit DACs are at the state of the art EC research and development facility.

    Dug up some notes on 4490 Modi:

    WTF ... it sounds this good? Definitely AKM family sound. More resolving ... can hear tape hiss and distinct cymbal hits better. Tonal balance seems slightly more low/mid midrange emphasis and a touch more strident, but tonal differences insignificant and really mostly the same. But the stage, wow, just opens up - deeper. Will be hard to go back from 4490. Less DS grain too.

    LOL, I'm far from being an industry insider. Currawong even suggested that I stop being a "pariah" and fall in line with the rest of the sycophants at HF.

    AKM already said the 4396 were going to disappear. A vendor such as Schiit with their volume has got to prepare for that day, whenever it comes, which it did. Now when will TI/BB finally kill the PCM1704? I'm getting tired of Audio-GD saying their most recent PCM1704 based DAC is going to be their last PCM1704 based DAC, so we better buy now. This has been going on for five years now.

    I have a Bifrost Multibit at home and a GOV2 at work. Any other DAC purchase at this point would be for my living room, where I mostly listen to vinyl anyway, so no big rush.

    I'm breaking all the rules! It will always be Modbit to me, even if it never exists. :)

    My M2U was born a little before 4/27 I think. It was on backorder on that particular day. That would make it nearly 2 months old. It definitely has the 4490 chip in it. I've seen it with my own eyes. So maybe the transition happened a little sooner than Jason remembers. 5 months sooner, I somehow doubt. As I understand it, the implementation isn't exactly the same in the old ubers, so it's not like they were randomly slapping 4490's in.
