That is correct. I went to the Schittr-meet least Friday, but couldn't remember the brand of cartridge. I was impressed with the sound quality of the Sol/Rag2/Mani/kef system.

I can’t wait to see what crazy expensive MC carts get put on it.

I wonder how much an extra arm will cost. I'm sucky slow on cart setups, and hoping for not too much coin I can leave a cart I like on an arm, and put another on to try something different.

Jason and Mike have mentioned $200. As a unipivot arm, it doesn't need precision machining and can be offered at reasonable cost.

The unipivot arm I met looked like it might have a reasonable cost. Not much to it that one could see. Turned out to br frighteningly expensive.

Unipivot anti static cleaning arm is cheap enough though.

What you saw would have been even more expensive if it had precision bearings and gimbals instead of unipivot. Someone wrote that the carbon fiber tube of the Sol arm was originally for archery arrows, which I thought is another clever choice that keeps the cost down.

For Schiits and giggles I just bought that LP Gear 3600.

Vinylengine fellas were talking up conical stylus cheap carts.

    So why not.

I think @baldr was mentioning conical rulz and I’m not surprised to see it on the Sol at the Schiiter.
Please report back your thoughts @EeePee

Will do. I don't know what to expect, being so inexpensive, but I like my AT440MLA and Grado Sonata. They are quite the opposite in sound. Each has its merit.

Either way, if this 3600 thing plays good music, I can save the other two carts for, uh... not using. If a $35 cartridge makes me happy, then I won't know what to think about the other two.

Thanks for sharing, you guys. Renewed interest is always fun.

When I was in the business, trying to help people make smart decisions about cartridges, we felt that cheap ($00) was better spent on conical, because at those price points, precise alignment of elliptical on the cantilever was unlikely. At $000 and up, we became comfortable with other shapes.

Is there a version available other than this
https://www.lpgear.com/product/CF3600LE.html ? LPGear site indicates the 3600LE isis elliptical stylus. I did some digging and apparently the AT3600 it's based on is a conical, though.

Not sure, really. I didn't read the details, and simply bought what I saw. :D

Is there any update on when Sol is going to be released? Wasn't supposed to be something like the end of March?

Did they show this tt at Axpona?

I've seen it mentioned in some show reports like https://twitteringmachines.com/axpona-2019-analog-analog-everywhere/ but nothing that discusses the Sol in particular.

About a month ago, they seem to have said
    1. Aegir - 3rd week of march
    2. Rag 2 - "around the end of march"
    3. Sol - April
but 3 launches within a month is a lot and Aegir actually launched first week April. Probably be easier to estimate Sol when Rag 2 launches w.r.t. compounding delays, but I'd guess that optimistically we're looking at 3-6 weeks of slip. That would make it May - early June for Sol? Just a guess though.

I saw the Sol in the "Schiit & Salk" room 384.
I didn't listen to it. A Salk streamer was running.
    No new info on timeline.

    Thanks for the info!

Hopefully it comes out sooner than later. This turntable could be a game changer. It is hard to find turntables with an outboard motor in this price range. The tonearm also looks very interesting.

I just with it had a swappable arm board and be more modular.

Given the skeletal design I imagine it would be fairly straightforward to fabricate a free standing arm pillar.

This is true, but isn't it better if the tonearm is attached to the body of the turntable and they are both part of the same system?
