Hello and glad I found you guys!

Sorry to start what may already be a thread somewhere else, I did look ! Damn newbie !

I've been in the AV business since we were selling the first Sony Trinitron KV1310 and KLH model 20s !

I have a Linn system and recently upgraded from an LK1 to a 5103 digital preamp.

I've connected the HDMI output of my Dell inspiron 3000 I3 8th gen laptop to an HDMI to HDMI audio extractor with a SPIDF coax output to the Linn.

I just purchased an Eitr and connected via usb a/b (cheap on laying around) to the Eitr.

    My questions are the following:
1( I don't know what I can truly expect from the laptop, if I go into settings for the "speaker" and select advanced and then format, it lists as high as 24/192 and has settings between but when I select any higher then 24/48. I get no sound.(BTW, the Linn maxes out at 28/96

    2) IS this bypassed when using either the HDMI or USB outputs and just outputting the highest quality ! Doubtful would be my guess.

    3) I would assume that the Eiter wiould be a much better choice then the HDMI route

    4) Would it be a better choice to use a streamer (couldn't find anything that I considered reasonable)

    5) What is the simplest interface for accessing the music. its native in external HDs and I do use an apple phone/ipad

Thanks for your patience with my ignorance, providing you have any !
