I'm not a big TV guy. There's no television in my livingroom, I don't play videogames -- I just need a TV in the bedroom for watching Blu-ray and Netflix/Hulu/Amazon/etc.

My previous television was a Sony KDL-32XBR9. As I shifted away from cable TV toward streaming, I replaced it with a Samsung UN32J6300 smart TV. But now that I've dropped cable TV altogether and I'm 100% streaming, I'd like to get something that's more reliable than the Samsung, which often has to be reminded that it's connected to Wi-Fi and a soundbar.

So I'm looking for a new TV. My requirements are simple:
    • No larger than 40"
    • 1080p
    • Excellent streaming interface and functionality
    What's good?

Just a basic Vizio or TCL should do the trick. The TCLs do have built in Roku that's popular enough at my local Cigar shop.

Why not add a Roku to the Samsung?

@OP ^^ That would be not only a cheap option, but would negate your Samsung's inability to maintain a connection to your WiFi because all the streaming would be through the Roku's wireless.

Thanks, guys, I had no idea that those things were so inexpensive.

Ordered a Roku Ultra, looking forward to frustration-free viewing.

The Roku Ultra arrived. Setup was easy, combo RF/IR remote is great, UI makes sense. Slight initial flakiness was solved by replacing a super-cheap HDMI cable with a nicer one from Blue Jeans; now it's working perfectly.

    Thanks again for the advice.
