Wait, what? It isn't android? I didn't plan to upgrade from my ZX2 anyway, but that just makes it even easier to stay. Sound quality is top notch already.

Zx2 sounds best with sound adjustment service disabled. If sound adj left enabled, the Zx2 sounds less natural and has bass bloat.

The 2016 release runs on Sony OS which won't allow you to turn off this software eq completely. Wonder if this will hurt sound quality compared to the new hardware tech they added.

Has anyone tried the EU volume capped models? Wondering exactly how bad is volume cap, does it diminish sound quality besides setting a hard volume cap?

I would not recommend the volume capped models. Should be enough for Effecient iems like andromedas, but it'll not have headroom for much more. Also negates the whole balanced output as well. After all you pita efforts for cables for the 4.4m you'll still have the same gimp ed output. If you are only using iems...don't think it'll be an issue. Else just buy an uncapped one.

ordered a wm1a from amazon uk for 820ish USD to pair with andromedas, doubt I'd ever use it with headphones besides occasional bose qc series for plane rides. Free return until end of Jan. should be plenty of time to decide whether to keep it or not. Hopefully 3.5 trrs to 4.4 adapters become a bit more common to find and cheaper than the $100+ vendors are asking for now.
Slightly concerned if warranty is valid or not, but Amazon UK chat promised that the 1 yr warranty is valid, so will see how it goes during registration.

Brexit effects takes time to roll out I guess.

Anyone tried this against the ZX2? Any opinions?

I've only seen them available on ebay, from Japan. Does it have English? Not sure if it was this model, but one I read it doesn't have English. Anyone know? Might get this next week.

OK, found out. There is a Japanese version, and a tourist version. Japanese version only has Japanese as the language, tourist has other languages.

You have to get it from an asian location that speaks english....such as hong kong. If you want to use it only for iems, I think the UK version on amazon.co.uk is a really good deal.

Of course. Ultimately, it probably doesn't matter that much, but if I'm going to spend that type of money it's best to get the better option.

Capped version is sold throughout the EU including UK unfortunately. It has a CE mark at the back so easily spotted.

I am interested in the WM1A for the Andros and here I am checking international postage and customs charges. Best site I've found till now is Accessoryjack in Hong Kong.

Yeah i am waiting it out for now. I live in Europe so it has to be an international sale, hopefully from a reliable site like amazon USA or something. Such a shame as amazon UK is the cheapest to be found. But what is the use of buying a crippled version? I would like to drive other headphones besides IEMs.

Sony could have opted to give users an opt out but nooooo our european ears are too sensitive and need to be protected. Who cares about differing sensitivites of headphones leading to huge variation in volume levels?

I just pmed someone about buying one. Hopefully it's releases in the US this week. If so, I'm 99% sure I'm ordering it.

I feel you. Love how the government wants to protect and help their citizens. They want to help me, leave me alone, let me do what I want, and don't tax the living shit out of me.
