Well I think it's technically just impossible, especially with multichannel madness. Nothing will ever line up except at the one super duper calibrated spot right in the middle, and even then it's kinda honked if you're already processing more channels than what was actually recorded.

The best you can hope for is a point source to mimic what was received from the microphone placement. Anything else is just approximations and a mountain of fudging to produce pleasing sound.

Binaural is the future. We just need to get our own HRTF calibrations and then upload them into the AV receiver's DSP and output to our headset.

Shot of the 2.5 way Devore Nines I picked up last night. Super 8s, soon to depart, in the middle.

iPhone 7 camera makes the Nines look bigger than they are. Both speakers have a 6.5" mid-bass driver.

If I ever get rich I'll get a pair of these just for Massive Attack and Depeche Mode. 15-inch side firing subs... oh yeah.

You can use some LHLabs monoblocks to drive them and keep the aesthetic going.

Only 15"? Pfft, I've got regular speakers that use 15s for woofer duty.

There's a local company here who who makes custom 36"...

If I had a dislike button right now I'm not sure I'd actually press it... but I'd consider it. :drunk:

There's just overcompensating for not having schlongs, 15 inches has been enough for any girl I've known.

@TwoEars At this point I'd just go for dual 15" or 18" drivers in an OB for bass quality, with an optional infinite baffle subwoofer to cover below about 40-30Hz, but I've not heard everything either. You could get a rotary woofer and still get away with spending much less than these Rockports.

From lower mids on upwards I'm a fan of using a widebander.

But this is the porn thread!

Not that porn has to be expensive, I suppose, but hey... good looks, glamour, some feature which is truly astonishing in some way: qualifies as porn. I suppose value for money just might, bit it seems less likely.

Install a couple of those in the room underneath your home theater and you got yourself an IMAX setup now.

Someone thought this was a good idea for selling his Magnepan speaker frames.
