Duh! Long day has been long. I should have caught that anyway. (And yeah, I've heard the T51p was pretty good.) How is the price difference between the DT1350 and T51p on the aftermarket? I should look around and check.

Good DT1350s are rare like good DT 250s.

How about the Sennheiser HD 26 Pro? Looks to be an improved version of the HD25, along with all the updates the 25 got over the years. Too bad it seems to street for ~50%+ over the DT1350.

Thumbs down to the Focal. Cheap/shoddy build with the rigid and cheap plastic headband. Buddy opened one brand new at a meet. Put it on and the headband cracked. No removable pads either. No thank you.

How about Audio Technica MSR7? I think these are sounding nice at ~200 $/€. Build q is good and comfort at least average.

Cavalli Ehha rev A should be on the budget amp list. I think for the money it is ridiculous value.
While at it a diy section makes sense.

This, on both accounts. A DIY section would make a lot of sense.

The Torpedo, Bottlehead Crack, and Gamma2 could all go into that section. Krell KSA-5 Klone should probably be on the DIY list as well.

I first heard the Senn 26 pro a few years back at RMAF. I had purchased DT-1350s, Amperiors, and Momentums in the past. And I compared to the HD25 II.

I would put them right up there with the Beyer T51P. Very nice can without so much of that nasty little treble peak found in the 25, and Amps.. May be a bit warm for some, but I liked them a lot.

    Shame they are not $200.

Yeah, I'm having a hard time finding any of the dual BA iems that used to be widely available. I regret like crazy getting rid of my vc1000. Can't find a new R50, DBA02, B2, UE700 etc. I wonder if the driver combo is no longer manufactured?

Seconded! I would also propose that the mainline be included on the diy list.

Any interest/expertise in also making a desktop speaker category?

    Sure. Let's start.

I nominate Overnight Sensation MT. $150 kit + woodglue + screwdriver

Also nominate Vanatoo T1. $500 all-in-one monitor that embarrasses most everything else in the price-range.

Nominate the Neumann KH120's at 1500$. Not cheap, but was far better then similar priced competition IMO.

For budget desktop speakers the JBL LSR305s are pretty great for the $200-250 a pair they sell for powered.

The quality control on them is abysmal.

The DT 250 250 is a closed, overpriced studio headphone with horrendous quality control that doesn't clamp, bleeds into mics, and needs amplification. Every single one I've tried had bass hiss and horrible channel imbalances in the mids. It's not portable so it isn't useful for audiophiles either. Give me HD 280 any day of the week for a closed can.

Sounds good eventually. No TT or related leaderboard. There are much better TT resources on the Internet. Probably no to speakers and speaker amps. The problem with speakers is that there are a million different ways to approach them: multi-way box, FLH, BLH, OB, FR, hyrbid, etc. I've built almost every kind of speaker. Each approach brings something different to the table, but may have glaring issues which piss off certain people.

I think a speaker leaderboard is definitely worth having. Folks who want to get in on the ground floor for cheap need good options.
