i tried it twice the first time the right side driver broke from a 3 feet fall from my desk the second time after i ordered a replacement it died from third gain 1-2 clock on my ragnarok and it was listening volume for me a little high but was not ear bleeding atleast for me and one side of the headphone stopped working so i gave up the build quality on the HD800's is godlike compared to the HE1000'S and well the HE1000'S this seems like its made from ..... china XD but it sounded good was soft was almost as good in the soundstage almost as good in the treble and better at the bass overall but some low bass was better on the hd800 am no wizard with the audio vocab so ya overall I still prefer the hd800's(stock) right now and with the HD800S coming out with the better bass extension and less peaks i think that would put me over the edge

in a interview, Bian mentioned Jade 2 will surpass HEK "like piece of cake". (actually I don't trust this guy's words since he said HE560 are much better than HE6)

Source? I thought the jade 2 wasn't actually a thing.

Well, if it's good I'll have to check it out. The original jade was really inconsistent, so hopefully they'll have tightened up the tolerances.

@ $1500 or half retail, would the HE1000 be considered a good value?

@Eric Farrell yes but i would get the hd800S or hd800 with mods instead and pair it with a warm amp if you want something of higher build quality and "similar characteristics"

I personally would say yes. But I don't find a modded hd800 to have a similar signature. They are quite different IMHO. I have not heard the 800 S but have it on order.

HE-6 bass is unreal, nothing else out there like it.

Bass drum hits your ears as dynamic and hard as the real thing, with HE6.
Nothing I heard can match it even the Abyss,
    Edit :
Yet I did not really like that ability as the dynamics hit my ear drum one too many times.

Yea, I agree it's a bit extreme for every day listening. I'd like to have one in my collection one day, though it does require quite the commitment.

Does anyone EQ their He1k? If so, can you share your EQ settings.

I don't think they benefit from EQ as long as they're well fed.

Maybe a cut around 7kHz, it depends on the sample (there was some variance among units). It's possible everything is consistent now because that was many years ago.
