Thanks, those new stock pads must leak a lot of pressure to compensate for that barely damped driver, my guess is alpha pads will not go well with it without further damping. HM5 velours or the stratopads will do better.

Could you also please take a picture of the annotations by the solder joints?

My Guitar Center had them (don't order online and try to pick up, GC is in in the stone age, hour later they still did not show in the pick que), so I picked them up and they are burning in, not sure how much is needed. Cups are really shallow and the overall feel is a bit cheap,. They had to cut corners somewhere. If they sound as good as I remember, then all I have to do is find some pads that are a bit deeper and more comfy.

The t50rp isn't really closed but semi-open. The t40rp however is closed.

T50RP mk3 modding...dang, I see more headphone hacking into the wee hours in my future.

I wonder if the driver frame is compatible with the mk2 cups (look the same)? this will save some time if we can transplant them with some rewiring

It will be interesting as a candidate for open cans :D

Wonder if Zach is/will be using them for his ZMF Omni

If anyone is going to Guitar Center to get these, they have an 8% off coupon code "FALLROCKS" that worked for me today on their website. Not much, but covers the sales tax at least.

Out Of Your Head, Guitar Center charges sales tax online?

Joch, from all i've read, the changes don't make a difference, only the housing. Zach said, he will use the rest of the mk2 stock, then move to the mk3 (sometime in Winter?); however, he also plans on cancelling the Master Model at some point.
I believe Dan Speaker is also of the same mindset of running through the stock, before moving to mk3 (since it's more expensive), and that their sound wouldn't change in their housing. But he also plans on distancing himself from the t50rp design in the future, planning to cancel the Mad Dog, someday, sometime.

Yes, as long as the vendor has a physical store presence in your state, then the vendor must charge sales tax regardless of where you buy it and where it's shipped from. I picked up the headphones in a local Guitar Center, so they definitely charge sales tax.

In CA, Amazon charges sales tax even though there are no Amazon retail stores.

    If I didn't need a DAC I'd have these in a heartbeat.
