    hi
which Digigram card have you used with Daphile?
    Any setting problem?
    What about the results?

    Thanks

As of version 52, Mozilla have removed direct ALSA support. And their attitude is like it or suck it anyway.

Don't know if this is of consequence to Daphile users? It certainly was on my Linux Mint/KXStudio setup. But dear KXStudio has a Pulseaudio bridge that can be used without installing or running Pulse. I was just missing one software component (Thanks to Linux Musicians for putting me right) and all works now.

(Due to other recent Mozilla monstrosities, I shall be using the ESR version to wean myself off Firefox over the next year or so: PaleMoon at least looks right)

    Digigram VX222e-mic .

The only problem is that if one use the "bitperfect" mode on daphile then the volume maximized to 100% in ALSA . It's usually perfect but for the Digigram, that means the output will include some added digital amplification. +18db amplification I think hence the distorted sound when it's maximized.

After a few email with the daphile dev he adviced me to use the volume control ( and not the bitperfect mode) in daphile, select the linear alsa mode and adjust the voume to 86. With that setting , the volume is the same than any other device in bitperfect mode and it works perfectly fine.

As did Skype a while back... I suspect this is merely the beginning, and we'll all soon get locked down into PulseAudio.

I'm still evaluating the whole USB vs Digigram point but thus far my feelings are :

    - USB (Yggdrasil) of my current server ( DIY fanless case, Mobo, CPU , Digigram and nothing else, my Music is on an external USB disc) >>>>>> USB from my previous one ( low cost shuttle PC + the same external disc) . Both servers powered by the same DAPHILE.
    - With the new server, I can't distinct the digigram to Yggdrasil AES input from the USB input . Still trying to find some significant difference :)

    ..interesting
In the long thread " USB nervosa ...." Torq suggests that even if a pro sound card is used, better results are obtained by AES> Mutec mc3+ > dac but i suppose you know this very well.
For me the new here is that sound quality is so much related to a good and simplified PC. I'm curious , so i ask you which mobo, CPU and power supply....

    Thanks
    Marco

Only if we stay locked into Firefox. I guess I knew, when I had to use an ad-in to make it look like it used to, that it was the beginning of the end. Dead browser walking. And it has been walking, for me, with Classic Theme Restorer and a few other add-ins, for quite a while: living on borrowed time.

That's much how I feel about Opera, the good ol' 12.x. At this point it's brain dead, and it's just waiting for the plug to be pulled...

    @2marco and @hifi01170 :

    - Streacom FLC5
    - Pico PSU 160W
    - Gigabyte h97n-wifi ( full Intel chipsets )
    - Basic Celeron. The less costly one.

    And that's it.

    Thanks
I give a look to your motherboard specs and see that there are pinout for spdif out.
I'm beginning this kind of project:
basic mobo, say Gigabyte GA-H110M-S2H + Celeron G3900 or Pentium G4560
Generic Linear power supply 16Volts > HDPLEX 160W DC -ATX
no Hd , just RAM 4GB
USB Daphile , mobo spdif out > Gustard X20 dac ( which is provided with input transformer on spdif )
very simple, not a lot of work on mobo and i hope for high sound quality.

I gave daphile a go last night on my kangaroo mini pc, and I can see why you guys like it so much! The interface is nice and SQ seems top notch, but I am having a technical issue that I was wondering if any of you have come across.

Namely, I can't seem to get mysqueezebox.com to recognize daphile as a player, which prevents me from using the official spotify app among others. Apparently slimdevices/mysqueezbox is blocking software players that use artificial mac addresses (see: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showt...se-read-software-players-amp-mysqueezebox-com ), and per daphile's network settings, daphile does just that by default in order to use the NIC's real mac address for wifi hotspot capability.

Has anyone figured out a way around this? I am apparently not the only one having this issue based on some posts I've seen on diyaudio and daphile's FB page. I tried updating to the 4/7/17 beta daphile last night, but still no luck. Spotify will work through the third party triode plugin, but it takes like 20-30 seconds to load my library playlists and is not livable long term. Any help is much appreciated.

I get occasional issues like that and just set static IP and enter the address in the browser when I have problems. I'm not really experienced with networks so happy to just use this workaround.

Thanks for the replies. I do have it set as a static IP and have no trouble loading daphile from the browser of various devices. Local files play beautifully, but I am still stumped on trying to get it recognized by mysqueezbox.com so I can load MSB apps. Without that capability, I am stuck using the third party "triode" spotify plugin, which has some serious bugs.

I tried posting to the FB page a week or so ago and got an immediate reply prompting me to upgrade to the latest beta. I responded confirming that I was already running it, and there has been radio silence ever since. Oh well. Daphile is pretty awesome otherwise, but I'll probably switch to the x64 version of volumio soon if I can't find a solution for this.

As an aside, I assume that anyone running daphile via ethernet probably doesn't have this problem since the fake mac address issue is set part of daphile's wireless settings. Absent that, it seems like MSB should recognize it.

I am looking for some assitance in getting coaxial output from my Juli@ on Daphile. It only gives me 2 devices in ICE1724 and ICE1724 (IEC958) These does not seem to do anything. Anybody have some ideas?

EDIT : seems like one device is analogue, the other digital. Got it working.
