Had been mulling it over for a week, they became unavailable yesterday with no return ETA on the deal, then it briefly showed back up last night and I leapt on it. Weirdly it had a March 16 ETA notice but it's already being shipped, yay...

I ended up getting these MSR7s as a don't-care-if-stolen pair at work.

Pros: easily driven by iPhone. Clean sound. Decent details at medium volumes. Lots of cables.

Cons: Sound signature a little thin sounding. Noticeably grainy at high volumes; actually sounds really bad at high volumes.

Overall: a little more satisfying than my beater Sony MDR-V6 and with more convenient cables so I'll be using these with my phone at work. If you already have closed cans I probably wouldn't get these and spend more on something better.

So much for the Crackses part. The death part is that, after an amazing 21 year run, we have decided to retire the S.E.X. kit. Thanks for the warning! I just saw it pop up on dealnews, which is normally pretty legit deals. I didn't check out the site.

 

Some people were going nuts for these on HF but they sounded very flat and unengaging to me.
