Literal and figurative spoilers...although I hate people that use/over-use/mis-use this expression!

Agreed. This was probably one of three consensual, non fucked-up sex scenes in the entire series. Also: teens have sex, fyi.

 

Wikipedia says average medieval life expectancy was 30 so got to get your freak on before getting brutally murdered by a zombie army.

 

Pretty doubtful that that was the actresses body on screen also, if that helps.

 

In the books, Dany was like 13 when she got offered to Drogo to get humped each night after battle. And yeah pretty sure Maissie had a body double, they did the same for Cersie and Dany later on as well.

Low numbers due to child mortality and other unpleasant things. It's a wee bit higher if you make it past childhood.

Ultimately, if you are bothered by this tastefully shot, consensual sex scene between characters and actors that are plenty old enough, but have not been bothered by the grisly, serial killer worthy, cold-blooded murders we’ve seen Arya perform, seek treatment.

(Not talking about anyone in particular, just making a general point fwiw)

 

The actress was 11 when she started filming, they didn’t need to have her get naked to show her have a fling with Gendry. The objection isn’t to sex, or nudity (though GoT is notorious for gratuitous nudity), it’s to having an actor who was a child when the show started do it.

 

Seems like No One at least had some input on the scene: "David and Dan were like: 'You can show as much or as little as you want'."

Why does that matter though?
She's not a child anymore.

 

It’s cool if it bothered you. It did not bother me. It’s a unique situation to see an actor grow up. I get it. If it was shot exploitatively, or was sexually violent (which is the norm on this show) I’d feel differently. But sounds like the actor did it on her own terms and the character was doing what she wanted. Honestly it was nice to see Arya get the chance for some joy. Now hopefully she won’t die.

Also like I said, we’ve seen this same former child murder two people, bake their corpses into pies, and serve them to their father. It’s silly to me to be bothered by her having sex when this is what we’ve been seeing her do.

 

This was arguably one of the more tasteful "hook-ups" on GOT (which admittedly isn't saying much given all the incest and sexual violence!). It actually served to develop this great character even more... Assassin or not, Arya's childhood was stolen from her so I was happy that she got to experience some normalcy even if just for a moment before the zombie apocalypse to come.

On another somewhat related note, I was relieved that the writers showed some "restraint" and chose to leave Giantsbane's "love" for Brienne unrequited. This and seeing him practically run over idiot early on were positives for me.

 

Agree, although the whole giant's milk chugging piece was a bit squeamish, likely purposefully so.

 

Yeah! At least we're not accused to be paedos or something.
