Clarification: this is not meant to be a senseless headfi bashing post/thread. For obvious reasons, this cannot be posted on headfi. Just wanted to know what you guys think? Is it just me or you guys feel the same too?

I am not banned from headfi as I am using another nick in that forum.

    Here's my honest opinion:

Other than the Jason Schiit thread. I feel there's nothing much more to be learnt from that site.

Too many circle jerking and shills have left a very sour taste for me.

There's not much quality discussions/debates going on, especially after much of CS peeps got silent banned and etc.

Headfi no longer has any kind of excitement for me anymore.

Depends on the thread. I participate a lot on a couple of basshead threads and read a lot of others. Frankly, fanboys exist on all sites.

    This site loves its Schiit.

That site loves its (whoever helps pay to keep the site running) and (whatever the flavor of the month is).

    Shrug, I like both sites.

Most of my time there is spent helping people in the recommendation sub-forum.

I completely stopped visiting HF (about a month before I was silently banned) - mainly because it didn't do anything for me anymore. It went from 2% useful to 0% in the past year. I never thought the measurements angle I took early on with the CSDs was appreciated by HF management, hence Changstar was started. Looking back, it's just strange. Many of us were very much pro HF (that is wanting to contribute to HF) back then.

Still follow select threads where intelligent people exist. Sad how most threads aren't worth the headache of keeping up with

still follow some threads cavalli carbon threads to be exact, but yeah its more of a bazzar than community. If I need to know about a product I go there but the noise.

Not near as much as I used to. Mainly because after getting the HD800, and seeing the price-point of many of the new headphones coming out, I haven't really found any reason to do further reading about releases and impressions on Head-Fi.

Regular product threads on head-fi are just about useless, because they all revolve around a dedicated fanbase continuously posting about how they like said headphone, and politely disagreeing with anybody who doesn't.

The Hifiman Edition X does pique my interest though, so I'll be sure to see what people on Head-Fi have to say about them.

I follow a few of the Schiit threads (Gungnir, Bifrost, Story of Schiit), the Cavalli Carbon threads, HE560, Sound Science sub-fora, and the occasional "new" thing.

    EDIT: Also, the DIY forums.

I would say I contribute more here because it's not only easier to write my thoughts but I feel more connection with the community. Head-fi I feel has too much noise and and it can be very difficult having an intelligent conversation with all that noise. Not to say that there are not intelligent people on head-fi (because there are) but they seem to be hard to find.

I visit HF more than SBAF. There are more interesting threads over there for me than here. Not to say that I believe the posts over there than here. I do not believe any suggestions/comments easily anyway. Here or there. But admittedly, I give more weight with the discussions here than there...

I haven't visited HF since purrin invited me to CHANGSTAR and now that we have SBAF, there is no reason to go back. SBAF is the best audiophile site there is.

The problem with headfi nowadays is that it is very hard to trust the opinion/reviews/posts of the members there, reason being(could be one or many of these reasons combined)

    A) members who are openly/secretly working for or have connections/favors from the companies

    B) members self censoring bad opinions due to fear of the ban hammer

    C) fanboys who blindly defend their purchases or inexperienced stillborns who give ill informed/half ass advice

    D) overhyping of new products even before anyone has heard it or even being released for sale

    E) Rogue Manufacturers who give mythical magical stories about their dragon slaying DACs or how their Megaflop FPGA can bring noise floor down to -350db. It is sickening especially when there is no measurements or credible data/information to back up their post.

All the above points are just my opinions, you have every right to disagree with the above

Eh, I've been a fan of doing window shopping on HF's trade section for a while,
'been doing it way before I decided to register and say hi there haha :D

Edit: Hmm, the HD800 appreciation thread got locked... wonder what happened there while I'm asleep. Darn it feels like missing the gunfight scene of an action movie.

I see what's new sometimes, and what's going on with the things I still have on order (Geek Wave (no comment, really) and the Cavalli Liquid Carbon.).

Otherwise, not much. Silent banning helps.

I never really posted much on head-fi anyways but I was getting back into this hobby around when the EL-8 came out. The hype cycle on that really left a negative impression, and made me feel like I can't trust anything written there. I still read some impressions threads for gear that's hasn't been discussed here yet, but I always view it more a semi-fiction than honest impressions.

Barely visit the site any more. So much noise, so little actual discussion.

I spend more time on HF, but I have to admit the S/N ratio is terribly bad.

I basically only read there for Schiit info, primarily the Story/Blog thread, and a few others that baldr posts in, in case he drops info there that he doesnt cross post here.

I even stopped following the Metal thread over there, since Music Alchemist basically commandeered the conversation.
