So during one of my little COVID Youtube "deep dives" i.e. binge watching episodes, I ended up watching through that Survivorman guy's Bigfoot escapades. I'm not trying to make this a Weekly News shit show of bigfoot sighting garbage, but after watching that season of shows, there were two things that stuck out to me:

    • while camping out in the bob marshal wilderness out in MT, i've seen a couple tree "constructions" very similar to what he's seen in a lot of other places. I never thought anything of it. assuming manmade.
    • I've heard whoops (like, really, eerily similar to the one they hear in EP10) but have always thought and been told by elder folks that those are just coyotes
So who here has some stories to tell? I don't have much, and my experience out in wilderness has mostly been to shrug your shoulders and get on with making camp or get back to sleep.

All that being said, I've got family friends in MT that have been spooked so badly that they won't take family into even the closest camps for fear of "something".

What we call Bigfoot is likely a cultural meme overlaid onto something a lot stranger than a secretive hominid.

Any idea what that “strange thing” may be?

Maybe some truth to that, in a very round about way.

I would argue "bigfoot" may be a case of "all of the above, and" vs "this thing in particular."

So many people have had encounters with these bigfoot, sasquatch, yeti, whatever you want to call them. There are many parallels and in some cases direct overlap with so called "UFO" cases, ghosts, poltergeist phenomenon etc etc...

Would recommend some of Jacques Vallee and John Keeles books if you are interested in the perhaps not really spiritual but also not entirely what it seems on the surface, nature of things of type.

And also Dr. Jeff Meldrums work on the more physical side of the sasquatch/Bigfoot phenomenon

The Watcher in the Dark? If I really knew I’d be a lot weirder than I already am.

They didn't know Panda's existed in Japan for thousands of years. If you look at 12th century Japanese art there are no pandas. they evaded humans for a loooooong time. Partly because they live high up in dense Bamboo clusters where they can't be seen. But they're huge animals.

    Just saying.

But these days there's so little land left, and for a species to exist there needs to be a certain number of them to reproduce healthily. I find it doubtful a big animal could exist anymore without our knowledge and not be extinct. But who knows.

It's @YMO. Surely people have realised that by now?
