«We need to have a broader view of the audience that isn't limited to audio incels who have the time to dick around with shit. Being an audio incel is not winning. It's losing.

    P.S.

Even with used gear, I wouldn't recommend anything difficult to obtain.

    P.S.S.

I'd hardly put the K340 in the category as timeless or good vintage gear by consensus. Unique or interesting perhaps. There is a reason why some vintage stuff is underrated.

Insulting people , in this instance me, is not demonstrating a great understanding of the context.... The first time i came here i was also insulted because i was experimenting with vibrations controls in headphone.... Some comic place " mr. sorbothane" under my alias " things had not changed ... WHY ? :)

I dont give a damn but it is necessary to give context for my last post here...

Thinking "paternalistically" or for marketing obvious reason that beginners need to be "protected" against common sense advice as mine was : read audio history about audio products BEFORE and AFTER reading marketing reviews of new hyped products ...
And think in S.Q./price ratio before buying anything
.... These advices are sound and must be said and discussed in any thread about people beginning their journey....
It is not me who banned the people suggesting their brand name prefered list , but a few sheeps acting like wolfs here who banned me for what crime ? Only politely answering OBJECTIONS some objected against the 2 advices above...

By the way my advices were not to buy Sansui or Akg K340 like suggested by some , i only said that i am more than happy because of the price/ S.Q. ratio related to these vintage products i luckily own.... There is plenty of others to look for....And one of my reason to post was to learn about these vintage products whose experience made some others here very happy in term of S.Q./price RATIO....

And last point about the K340 to reestablish some truth : how many headphones are "cult" like product after 40 years? :)

And nevermind your 2 different measures in Changstar , revealing some variations in the frequency response, there is an ACOUSTIC reason why this specific hybridation tech coupled with these 5 passive diaphragms WORK so good in spite of an imperfect frequency response that this headphone i paid 100 bucks , in spite of his limitations beat all the 8 headphones i bought in the past and reduce them to trash in my drawer....It is useless to bash them....I prefer to praise this old technology which are always new because never replaced nor improved alas, like already said purr1n in his thread about the K340....

Then instead of attaking the messenger and his own audio materials by allusions why not thinking in a neutral way and without bullying and insulting about this important question in any audio thread for beginner: How to reach the best S.Q./ price RATIO through an investigative search in past audio history INSTEAD of reading reviews of low cost basic stuff .... Some people dont need my advice yes, you are right about that, but i never BAN those who deliver their list of new hyped low cost stock....I bought myself all that long ago when i begun and lost my money anyway on deceiving audio stuff i will not name here...
But i was giving my advice precisely to others more awake people taking a conscious journey in audio not to regular consumers for sure....

Nevermind any arguments about anything, i was banned for NO REASON...Many here are impolite : " "incel" word for example throw to an unknown guy coming here is not the peak of intelligence manifested) Many are impolite here and with no arguments and they are never banned...Why? By the way i am not a victim and i am not a sheep neither, i am not a consumers sleepwalker no more too....And i dont need to be here too then feel free to ban me for life if i am too troublesome for your brain....I am friendly and i like to discuss without insults...

My advices were common sense....My goal was to discuss bout the S.Q./ price ratio and the means to establish it on a rational basis for the benefit of beginners which are interested in an audio journey for sure.... Thats all.... But it takes brain to discuss....Banning someone does not take much brain... :)

By the way, "incel" yourself, my journey has ended with an happy audio wedding described in my "signature"....

You could always start YOUR OWN THREAD of high value vintage gear for the audiophile history buff. Instead you filled 3 pages with childish argument in someone else’s thread.

    GROW UP!!!

You could be right if you were "fair" .... But discussing S.Q. /price ratio is not "childish arguments".... Grow up yourself....

Putting a " dislike" icon is not a very mature way to discuss by the way....I will put a "like" icon on your post.... To please the child you seem to be...

«Show us a pic of your tuned room»

Alas! i was going back with sadness to headphone only 2 months ago, like i said here in my first posts... Because i sold my house after retirement, and must go in a smaller house... i cannot afford a dedicated Speakers/room no more...

    This is the bad news...

The good news is : i go on working around my optimization of the only one high performing headphone i had in the past with success....

But anyway i doubt that the images of a great number of Helmholtz resonators and diffusers homemade will impress you....Most people put speakers in a room plug it and wrote a review.... :)

Thanks to speaking with me without posting insults, or icons or videos...

    My speakers/room exist no more....

And by the way i prefer now my simpler headphone rig....Why? Because it takes more impressive speakers than my past one to exceed a well optimized K340... Or probably some other TOTL headphone....

Anyway i am now pleased to my surprize with my actual system which is lower cost than my other speakers/room low cost rig.... This headphone rig will be the last one probably....

The reason is simple: my K340 give me a 3-D soundfield filling the room, and out of the head, with good mastered and well recorded classical music or with some jazz...My past speakers so good they were could not give me 30 hertz and very refined high frequencies and so much details, .... A room even well acoustically controlled cannot replace the drivers speakers limitations ....

There is better headphone than the K340 for sure but their price is "better" too, i suspect very high price...

By the way the K340 is not for beginners : too much modifications needed....This headphone so good is his potential S.Q' is an imperfect headphone, as most headphones are by design, but a promising NEW technology which was abandoned for reason related to his complexity and the cost to be improved...AKG go toward another direction totally : the K1000 and AKG invest more toward the normal consumers market....

But when this is said, the optimized K340 exceed anything i ever listen to.... My 2 Stax are in a drawer.... Etc...Not bad for a 100 bucks used piece of audio... I discovered it reading audio history....I quit many years ago reading hyped reviews of new low cost products which deceived me each time by the way and i quit reading high price audio new product because i could not afford it anyway and i begun to read about what was good in the past and of very high quality and at low cost now to buy used....

In audio journey the S.Q. /price ratio is the main problem to solve for each of us....then a list of hyped low cost audio product any newby could look for anywhere on the internet is useless... It is more interesting to talk to someone here who had already achieved at low cost a good system ... Consumers perhaps need list... Beginners in audio need good advices not only list of what we can buy at low cost ...

Mine is look for the best S.Q./price ratio in audio history...

    Merry christmas to you....

I would argue that it was you that did not demonstrate a great understanding of the context of the thread you were posting in.

The context of that thread was quick/easy recommendations for people that want good sound, but don't have the time/energy/ability to research/dig thru hundreds of pages of reviews to find synergistic combinations of what works well together. The thread was aimed at true beginners.

When this was pointed out, you persisted... rather than taking the discussion to a more appropriate thread and posting a link for those that wanted to continue the vintage gear discussion. IOW, you completely highjacked that thread. I suspect this was the reason you were banned... so you could hopefully step back and "see the light".

That sounds like a fine idea for a thread and is one that I'm sure many here would participate in. There are many lovers of vintage headphones, dacs, etc on this forum.
