Twisty/Turn-y Things: Single Channel Polarity/Phase Reversal

    Tried the Phase Reversal Trick on my speaker system, because it was super easy there and didn't cost anything. My music server runs every file through SoX anyway, so I inverted the right-channel polarity before the DAC by adding

    remix 1v1 2v-1

    to the sox command line, then restored the polarity after the power amp by swapping the right speaker's plus and minus wires at the amp.

    ... and then I forgot that I'd done that, and spent this entire morning trying to figure out why my new semi-DIY subwoofer -- which sums left and right channels -- was playing at whisper level. Sigh.

    I haven’t seen this mentioned but this trick should make zero difference on any system with dual-mono power supplies

    BTW, implementing with speakers should be easy unless you use speak-on connectors
