Updated the thread title and OP for better accuracy. (product name/abbreviation, UERR replaces UERM)

Cool news, despite Jude's hypre train. Seems lots of people like the UERM here, so if they improved it, I might think about it.

^The good things about trying Custom Demos at a meet is that they are closed and isolate plus you can easily bring one of your known portable devices to run them in a real world usage situation. It can get a bit crazy to be able to have a listen if there are many people in queue, early and late at a meet are usually the easiest times.

I have not tried the new multi-driver demo station that actually has all of the driver configurations physically in the earpieces for quick-switching with an external controller. I would think this could make for much faster/easier A/B-ing of the different models to zoom in on the ones you like best and be confident in it. Not sure how well the signal from our devices passes through that controller or how many they have of these going to meets. SoCal has the best shot at the rarer UE tech coming to meets since UE's lab and operations are in Irvine.

I can't wait to visit the UE Pro store when I'm in LA!

CEE TEE... you should definitely get a comp pair for your years of service! :)

^Ha, thanks. Enjoy your visit and good luck picking out which model you will choose!

But I had a great experience listening to things and being able to learn from the folks at UE while I worked closely with them. Most of the people at UE have been there for YEARS taking care of clients and keeping everyone in good sound. They went above and beyond for so many of us and supported the meets when they were small (and we were getting the Bay Area going again) with whatever we needed.

I have seen how much work goes into creating and maintaining the IEMs. Makes it much easier for me to see the value in buying them, as it is also buying a service company. So I don't mind paying for a pair (though I may wait for a meet :p).

Quick Notes: I was lucky in that I had all of the individual custom demo units and could spend time going back and forth for over a year to really make up my mind on how they differed. For me: UE4, UE7, UERM. All of those are just great in my book and totally versatile. More neutral monitoring, but still "musical" to me.

The UE18 (warmer overall/more speaker-like) and the UE11 (extra bass/thump) stand out as stronger flavors and the people that are drawn to those two units usually gravitate toward them pretty quickly in my experience.

I'd like better bass extension and a drop less mid-bass, lose the fatiguing treble jump and replace it with smoother and better extended treble.

    That would be great.

NS10 with a few layers of TP over the tweeter is fine.

I was about to buy a replacement UERM. I guess it will be a UERR. I would be happy to send it on a detour for measurement if anyone is interested...

Has production started on the UERR yet? Curious if anyone has heard them.

I don't think they have been heard in the wild yet that I have seen...they were not ready when they had Jude and crew over to show them Capitol Studios so that should mean that they are still tweaking or getting production-ready.

Supposed to ship this month (Dec 2015) according to the marketing material. Hope they turn out well. UERM with even more extension and hopefully a bit more resolution would be straight up amazing....

I visited the UE headquarters in Irvine over the summer since I was in the area to visit UC Irvine as well. Very nice venue overall and Chad (customer representative) was very nice to offer me a tour of the facility as well as getting me a 3D scan of my ear for free.

The multi-driver demo station is basically just a dongle attached to an iPad driving the UE18 (or you can use your own source with an auxiliary input). In theory, the UE18 can model all of their other products since they can activate certain drivers. However, listening to the UERM next to the UE18 modeling the UERM proved to be a different experience for me. I definitely preferred the sound coming from the UERM itself over the modeled UERM and it was very much akin to the UERM demo I heard at a local Head-Fi meet last year; the UE18 modeling the UERM didn't sound similar to the UERM at all to me even if I used the same eartips.

^Oh, I didn't know that the station only used UE18 drivers in the shells. (Makes sense that they can't pack all of the actual drivers into the earpieces and activate only the drivers really used in each model but I can't imagine that can sound as accurate as the separate demos.) Thank you for this clarification. I have to recommend trying the separate demo models then.

Also- bring your own source/amp to demo with. The multi-jack amp that was in the UE demo kits was noisy and not very good-sounding, I did not use it to show the demos when I had them. UERM respond more to better amping than the other models. They have impedance curves that can roll FR if not properly driven. Not sure about the new UERR though, there is a good chance that they wanted to make the UERR easier to drive & more consistently across devices.

Got these to round up my modest IEM collection (ER4S, N4U).
Very satisfying straight out of an iPhone 6S - excellent imaging, gobs of well-layered detail, good soundstage (for an in-ear). Biggest qualitative leaps over the Etymotic and Noble are on two fronts: solid, tonally-rich low-end response, and lack of treble harshness/sibilance. They go about their business in a very even keel way, and sound impressive whether they're reproducing Rachmaninoff, Dinosaur Jr. or Coltrane.
They're well made: utilitarian but well put together. excellent fit/finish, neat in-shell driver layout, and even the flexible, L-shaped plug seems to have been well thought-out.
Going Wyrd->Modi1->Magni1 resulted in better articulated bass and slightly meatier mids. Was bummed about being unable to scratch the UERM itch, but I'm very happy with these. Still wonder how they compare to the original, though.

Can't wait for impressions vs. the UERM. I almost blind purchased a pair during the UE900S combo deal thing, but the thought of paying full price for a side-grade to my UERM concerns me.

This is my number one concern. I suspect that most of us with uerm will not be so enticed by the uerr. Its interesting because I am usually much more excited about iterative product developments, but the uerm is so very excellent that it's currently hard for me to imagine the uerr being worth it.

I look forward to thoughts from others more brave then me.

Mine just arrived, gonna listen longer before writing up an impression. Unfortunately I don't have a UERM so no comparison from me.
