Put my UERR order in today. Default white with Capitol/UE logos. Will update when I get them along with comparisons vs UERM.

Awesome Chris! I'm waiting until I can get a fresh set of impressions of my ears (hopefully the 3-D scan) before I dive in!

This is my first post here so a warm hello to all.

I had impressions done today and I am considering the new UERR's.
Is there an extensive waiting time for these?

I am a recording engineer and need something in a reasonable timeframe for a project starting in the next 3 weeks.

    Thanks
    Jessica

You can contact UE to have your order expedited, for an additional cost depending on how fast you need it.

I got an email from David @ UE yesterday saying the estimated ship date for my UERR is March 10. My order was placed Wednesday which means the current wait time is about 3 weeks. (my impressions were already on file from a previous UERM order)

Can anyone offer any insight into how the new UERR might stack up against the Noble Kaiser 10. I read so many reviews sating the K10 is the best thing since sliced bread.

There is only one camp of UERM lovers here. There are two camps of K10: the absolute lovers and the haters/unimpressed. I'm among the haters.

I think K10 is pretty colored. while it makes everything sounds good , i get tried of it during 2 weeks loaner as i do feel that its too euphoric for me (Its K10UIEM so i cant really confirm if the CIEM version is better)
You plan to use it for Studio monitors right? May be you need something flat and accurate for that (imho)

    Griff,

Thanks for the "insight". Not exactly what this gal was looking to hear, but I do appreciate the effort. ;)
Specifically, I am familiar with the K10 but have not been able nor will I be able to hear the "new" UERR. Hence my request for a comparison assuming someone has used both.

Its always difficult to purchase blindly.
    Thank you

    Jess

    Mana,

Exactly what I wanted to hear....thank you.

Yes, I do need a set of monitors for studio. I do not want them to make everything sound good. I want a reference monitor that will allow me t hear the music as it was and is being recorded.

    Thanks......

UE's primary market is professionals, not audiophiles. Audiophiles got on the train because the UERMs are legitimately amazing. They're one headphone that will never leave my collection. I actually use the to "reset" myself when comparing gear.

UERR is solid, have the demos here tonight. Excellent balance across the spectrum. Smooth. Wide bandwith. High resolution.

That would be excellent, if they make the universal version...

    Hi Jessica,

I've just spent some time with the uerr (thanks sphinx!) And I have the second k10 ever sold.

The two ciems have very different tunings. The k10 has a warm, rich sound which is still well detailed. The bass is full, with two of the largest armatures, well controlled, but aiming for the slightly slower bass of a dynamic driver, very good extension, but tilted to the midbass. The mids are warm and the treble has good brightness but no fatigue. There is a dual armature for the treble and another dual armature for the high treble, so the extension is very good, at least for my set of customs.

The k10 gets its "greatest thing" title by being pretty darn euphonic-it sounds great with a wide range of music. You get richness and you get clarity and it does well from the top of the spectrum to the bottom. I described it today as not an high-end, audiophile sound in the sense of a studio monitor, but rather a popular sound that has been done at a high-end level, if you see what I mean.

The UERR isn't a flat sound, but it's a sound that (as Marv was told by UE engineers in a great interview he did a while back), it's been tuned to sound flat. You're getting a lot of the fun curves, bumps, and peaks taken off that add oomph to the bass and edge to the treble. You won't get the extra bass the k10 has (but you get a good, balanced amount), you don't get the thick, warm midrange richness (but you get greater tonal accuracy)...same for the treble, you don't get the brightness which adds a sense of clarity, you get the idea.

Jerry Harvey famously said that he found a flat sound to be boring. So, the uerr isn't for him, also Jerry wishes death upon UE. The k10 isn't for everyone, either, because that extra warmth can be too much. Knowing what you want will be the determining factor. For studio monitoring, the uerr is hands down the choice, for example.

They are both nice. I was sold on the uerr until speedracer was telling me today about his kse1500 (three times the price of the uerr, what am I thinking?)...
