This is the original tuning measured by Tyll: http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SennheiserIE800.pdf
The above tuning was also liked by certain members here.

This is the final tuning Sennheiser went with: http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SennheiserIE8002013.pdf
Notice the bass boost, along side other changes.

I am willing to bet part of the tuning change is with regards to isolation. More isolation, less air in the final tuning vs. the original.

Of course, the ergonomics of the IE800 are a nightmare. What were they thinking, SMH.

oh I see, yes that original tuning looks quite nice. So that was never a production version?

Apparently, it never made it out of the the early/beta phase, and the final tuning was settled on.

Sometimes, it makes me wonder who Sennheiser's focus groups and testing groups are, and how nobody commented on the ergonomics as well as the tuning for a $1000 pair of earphones.

ya I dunno, they were unwearable for me except around the ear otherwise they just fell out, problem with that was the cable was for a dwarf or something.

They were the best iem I heard though in terms of sound stage and overall cohesiveness though, they really sounded like a full sized can. The bass bloat and treble sizzle was very annoying though.

Hmm, I really wish i could get me hands on a beta one
