Asking if this is objectively better. I run Qobuz through Roon and run a Bitfrost 2/64.

Given that the Schiit DAC upsamples to 176/192, would it's upsampling do a better job than Roon, or should you upsample within Roon to 176/192 and let it pass through to the Bitfrost in NOS mode?

I just don't understand why those that can, upsample to higher bit rates even though the DAC can't handle it.
I would like to try HQP, but can't find clear instructions on how to run it on Windows Roon Desktop

I understand one's YMMV, but i'd like to know opinions of those more experienced

    Cheers & Beers

The Bifrost is 8x upsampling from redbook so 352/384 in the usual oversampling mode. 176/192 is the upper data rate limit for SPDIF/AES and Unison USB input, so if you set it to NOS mode and use external upsampling, you are at best doing 4x, which some members have found to be a nice in-between of NOS and OS. If you set it to oversampling and also use external upsampling, you're gonna get a combined 8x filter. Jason said recently that they might implement 352/384 input rates at the cost of higher USB power draw (and potentially noise).

Thank you for taking the time to respond Ash. I forgot to add that I stream my music wirelessly through a Bluesound Node N130 (soon to be MercuryV2) My Bluesound is connected via Supra 75Ohm Coax. Does that affect your examples above?
I believe the Bluesound is only capable of 24/192 Max, so then (correct me if I'm wrong) the Bitfrost would endeavor to oversample that input twice up to 352/384in OS

    It doesn’t.
You’ll be able to feed max 192/24 to the Bifrost, which means you’ll be limited to 192kHz in NOS mode.
In OS mode, the DAC will upsample 2x to 384kHz.
