My friend who built the Pass monoblocks has another pair of Klipsch Fortes he is selling. These are Forte IIs with upgrades.

he Pass / First Watt Monoblocks are officially for sale.

My friend is selling them and would prefer local pickup in Loveland, CO, but he said he could also ship. They are heavy. Here is a blurb he wrote up and I have attached some pics of the build. These monobock amplifiers were hand built by myself using the DIY-Audio store’s Aleph J Cricuit Boards. All chassis work was custom built out of very thick aluminum plate. They use very good quality components including high end Cardas binding posts, soft-start circuit boards for a gentle start up and speaker bypass switches for silent turn on and off. They will include a printed manual/schematic. Connections are XLR inputs currently but they could be re-wired to RCA.

DESCRIPTION

This set of circuit boards will make the Aleph J amplifier of Nelson Pass. This amplifier is a direct descendant of the legendary Pass Labs Aleph 3, the amplifier that turned the audio press upon it's ear, brought single-ended amps to many people, and catapulted Pass Labs into the forefront of specialist audio engineering and construction, where it still resides today.

Populate these boards with your components, then add your own power supply, chassis and heat sinks to complete the amplifier.

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

The Aleph J is a single-ended, Class-A, Mosfet power amplifier, with a Jfet driver stage. It utilizes the Nelson Pass 'Aleph Current Source' to greatly increase the overall efficiency of the output stage, with the benefits of more linearity, a higher damping factor, and greater stability into tough speaker loads, doing all this with less negative feedback than it's predecessors. The Aleph J is a regular kind of amp - a voltage source amplifier, requiring nothing out of the ordinary from the preamp or the speakers.

OUTPUT POWER

As with most of the First Watt amplifiers the power output is 25WPC into 8 ohm.

Many, many thanks @ufospls2 for posting this. I'm a little stunned that I've become the new "custodian" for this amazing, beast (its heavy) of an amp. The S7 makes my ZDT Jr. look ............ junior .
Also all interactions during the transaction with the seller were really positive.

Those Sony look like they could be CD3000! Definately worth a closer look.

 

Knowing Nashville though they are probably MDR-V700. Probably most from monitoring in the studio might be good for some headbands or maybe a set of T20's for modding.

Just a heads up. When Alex updated his mods to the most recent version (which is when he also increased the price), he started using leather pads. This might mean that this is an older version of the PMx2 (there are some PMx2 with the latest tuning with the velour pads, but I don't know how many of these are out there).
