Headphiled Grado HP2 $850

 

I havent heard these, thoughts from anyone on the sound?

 

Not sure because they have headphile mod on them. Appears non reversible. I.e. the original aluminum cups are probably gone.

Stock? Most neutral and linear of all grados otherwise, bass included. Detail retrieval, instrument separation is superb. Positioning staging is very good but of course no Hd800.

Some shoutiness without mods to dampen the interior, this is exacerbated when using flat pads.

The hp2 only works with flat pads too. Tube amp is a must.

 

Buy them and I will mod them for you. Headphile is just a wood panel stuck to the aluminum cup EDIT : seems there are variations of headphile mods. This might change things. There are measurements of the modded versions.... Might be on Changstar

The upper mid peak is easily tamed to make them exceptionally linear (doesn't change the ear pressure though)

Changstar link for modded HP1000 = virtually the same as HP2
