Stellaris with attenuator upgrade and top tier tubes

What does the Stellaris with the stepped attenuator go for nowadays new? Might be hard to sell with tubes included at that asking price. We will see.

 

A couple of years ago, the stepped attenuator upgrade was $2000

He's a good guy, I bought a Mjolnir 3 from him in the past fortnight for an excellent price and it was in pristine condition. He's really nice. We share a mutual friend who recommended him to me.

Audio Research DAC2 - I've never heard one, but I've always been interested. Uses a well regarded UltaAnalog R2R chip. This is the lowest price I've seen by a mile - usually hovers around $900-$1100-ish. I'm not really in a position to buy anything right now, but maybe someone else here is.

I own & love the Harbeth 30.1 monitors I use them in a desktop/nearfield configuration. It absolutely shouldn't work, but it totally does.

This is selling 30 minutes from me. I just put in an offer to pick them up so no shipping/fees. They would go on my desk. I owned P3ESR and was just saying yesterday to a guy I sold a pair of Vanatoo's to how much I missed the P3ESR. I'm pretty sure the seller is a friend of the guy I met yesterday, and recently upgraded to 40.2 via the same dealer I just purchased an Audio Note Cobra from near Chicago. The 30.1s are front vented designs, large 2-ways with an 8" mid/woofer. I bought my pair from a UK used gear dealer; I worried they wouldn't sound great in my cramped nearfield configuration. After all, the best results I've had there were with sealed 2-ways (ATC SCM12 Pros; vintage KEF 103.2s).

I needn't have worried. They sound wonderful. I'm not sure they can sound bad anywhere. My pair is cherry wood. I preferred rosewood, but once I got these things on my desktop and singing, that didn't matter any more.

My DAC is the MHDT Labs Orchid with the best NOS output tube I could find. The preamp is the OG V281 (a fantastic preamp as well as headphone amp). The speaker amps are the equally fantastic Bel Canto M600 monoblocks. I run the main signal through an acoustically transparent electronic crossover w/user-adjustable crossover points, the Marchand XM66, which splits the output of the V281 into high pass (above 80 Hz) going to the Bel Cantos; and low pass (below 80 Hz) going to a JLAudio e110 10" subwoofer. The sound is shockingly good in my work chair; less good elsewhere in the room.

That it sounds so good at the listening position means I just plain lucked out. 2 pix:

This doesn't have the separate transformer/PSU option (less noise, I guess?), but it should still be fantastic with any headphone. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I didn't already own one

Oh ya, I forgot to mention the seller has no feedback on USAM and uses a different handle for the external feedback.

I reported the Caldera ad and a USAM admin responded saying they'd taken down all of the sellers' ads. Didn't see the point giving him the benefit of the doubt re: using someone else's photos with a fishy price.

I sold this person my A2 boards, that they swapped into their GS2, should be good to go A1 boards. Had no problem with the transaction.
