The top screw of my mk1 (aka hideous original version) is an M3 screw. I think it’s the same size as the side ones?

Just to say I have received them, really happy with them. It's great to be really hearing music again, it's been a year since i had a decent pair of headphones.

Sony ZX2 is playing well with them (alone) but when I add the Portaphile Micro Amp to try to punch through the details (which it did great with the iSine20's) the sound is worse-so they are being shelved for now.

I plan to pick up the ED1A to use with my Huawei P20 Pro at some point and see how that compare (with a new cable from Cema Electric Acousti https://www.aliexpress.com/store/5003206?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.3dd34c4dK2iPdj ) as the stock cable is just silly for walking around with

Hey all, I've been trying to hold off posting until my replacement grills arrived, but shipping from Ukraine...

I want to provide a pad summary to help those who are curious about where to start. Long story short: these pads are the best to my ears, and I'm done trying to find something better. It helps that you can't beat the price. Those Accessory House pads combined with my damping mods has caused me to lose all desire to try new headphones. My next purchase will be the Verum 2 out of appreciation for what these have done for me.

The mids on the AH pads might be a touch forward, but I like it. The overall balance, detail, bass, etc, are all excellent. What makes these pads special is the type of sheepskin it uses--it uses the same kind as the stock perforated mk2 Verum pads. This particular leather gives the treble a certain sweetness that is lost on ZMF and Mr. Speakers pads. However, the ear opening is larger on these compared to the Verum pads. Everything is a bit more open and natural sounding with an appropriate increase in bass as well.

I'll be having a pad fire sale. Thanks for reading. I'll be back when my grills arrive or when Igor sends me a Verum 2 prototype to try (kidding--but one can hope!).

I got the Accessory House pads last week, and it's pretty great for Verum One. The construction is pretty much identical to the stock pads, so I suspect they came from the same factory. My pair are slightly thicker and flatter than stock pads, but maybe it is unit variation or different shrinkage. The unperforated version looks like it's a lot thicker, but I doubt it sounds as neutral as perforated ones. I thought there is Aliexpress/Taobao link to buy these pads, but I just couldn't find any.

Sonically the low end feels cleaner and more decisive. The pleather pads felt like they have a little Dekoni house that I don't quite like, and the sheepskin pads cleared then out for me. As shown in the FR comparison below, the Sheepskin pads have slightly lower 2 kHz to 4 kHz, which makes the upper mids feels a little recessed, that's not any detrimental amount. Overall, they feel like a fusion between the stock pads and Ether Flow Closed leather pads. Great value and performance for $35.

What is a surprise (or not a surprise at all) is how well they work on LCD2. I got my Jot 2 earlier this week, and was in a rush to find out which headphone pairs best with it. I couldn't bear with the Dekoni pads on my LCD2 and I seriously regret throwing away the stock leather pads. Thus I tried to put these pads on. The fazor was touching my ears aggressively, so I spent 4 oz of elbow grease to remove them. The final result is stunningly good. It feels coldish neutral to me, there is no darkish tilt of stock LCD2. The details and texture are a step above Verum One thanks to the diaphragm. These are currently my favorite sound on my setup. Looks like Audeze are 2 pads away to nail its sound.

The LCD line of headphones are a different sonic approach than the Verum. If you like the Verum sound and want an improvement - there are not many options I know of. I personally like the HE-560, HE-6, HE-X, PMX-2 as "Paths of Options" for someone who likes that sound. I'm not saying any of them are any true upgrade, but they are all in that kind of wheel-house in my experiences.

HE-6 with the right pads would be my bet for someone who wants Verum-like sound with even more tactility and technical refinement. PMx2s are also similar timbre-wise (and more refined) but not that much in the same spot tone-wise. HEX or HE560 are not a bad choice but not the c!osest one to Verums IMHO.

HE500 is not an upgrade over Verums per se but should also be mentioned, as they too seem to share similar DNA from my experience.

I never had first hand extended HE-500 experience, so I left it out of my list. From what I remember and anecdotal.. yes I fully agree. Most "stock" experiences match mine and once modded (which I haven't heard a fully-finished mod) they probably fit in that perfect spot between the HE6 and 560. The HE1K / Susvara stuff is much more in like with the electrostatic type of presentation.

Haha. Love it. I think if I had a Fazor LCD I’d rip the stupid things out too.

Yes. They don't really scale that much. Verums already sound good from almost anything. The downside is that they don't scale with better gear all that much. This is good because there is no need to spend more money to upgrade source and amps. Audezes (if good grade unit) and Sennheisers scale more with better gear.
