That DLC is very nice. Especially there is a super cool weapon Beast Cutter. It's really fun to use it against the Gehrman. I basically bought DLC because the weapon looks kickass in trailer :)

I remember about a year ago, Epic was basking in news headlines as a paragon of good business practice in the gaming industry (Barring fortnite lootbox schenanigans, which they also eventually got rid of), and had community goodwill that was second to none.

    Whoops.

Edit: This is also quite significant as DLC/season releases on Steam's store may no longer occur, which means users may be in the position where they are forced to repurchase all past content on Epic's store instead. While I hope there'll be a 'transfer/link account' feature available, until this is confirmed by Epic/Psyonix, there's no guarantee. Not to mention the risks for game longevity of population splitting, ratings for purposes of matchmaking not being preserved, etc.

Epic has a ton of money and is burning through it to get these exclusives.

I am not installing the f'ing Epic launcher. I am not going to give Epic a dime.

I have about 1000+ hrs with Rocket League and play the game daily. I would be pissed if they shut down the Steam servers.

That partial acquisition by Tencent, success of Fortnite and royalties from UE...tons of money available to acquire a bunch of companies to compete with Steam.

What the hell has Valve been doing the past 5 years? No major titles yet they'll pump out TF2 hat upgrades. I guess there was that failed Steam console. Gaben's sloth has finally caught up to him.

That whole games as service model is terrible for us gamers.

Half-life series aside what games have Valve ever put out of significance that origininated from within Valve?

    Diddly squat.

Their issues go deeper, and much further back. The exodus of prominent writers being a symptom of some inner issues of significance for a certainty.

Games got too expensive to make, and used-games/piracy screwed us all in the end. Now we have mediocre derivative grindy interactive service bullshit posing as games. Who are we really to blame, they’re a product of the circumstances.

Nah these companies are licking their chops at how much more revenue they can squeeze out of a half-assed released game. Epic made billions selling passes and microtransactions in Fortnite. This is the future. Games are going to be designed to take your last quarter just like back in the day at the arcades. Companies like Activision only care about maximizing their profits.

Releasing buggy, broken games to patch later with $5.99 passes and shit is the new normal.

The only upside as a consumer for me, depending on the game, is I can bypass a lot of the grinding since I have a full-time job and other responsibilities. A couple bucks for experience to get my character to a certain level, great. I refuse to buy cosmetics.

Epic is sweating, they're coasting off Tencent and Fortnite money right now. No game title is a giant forever, Blizzard learned that lesson several times over with WoW and Overwatch. Epic can't sustain that rate of spending and needs another big whale to bleed in order to have more market pull. That's why Steam hasn't bothered with Sweeney's 'offer' to stop doing Epic Store exclusives if Steam adopts an 88/12 revenue split - because they win by doing nothing at this point.

Besides, Epic has gone back on their word already, and been caught engaging in double-speak or outright falsehoods - why would you trust them?

    I certainly don't.

So i was looking for something like Privateer, Freelancer and Rebel Galaxy. Well i found Starpoint Gemini Warlords and it is all i was looking for, it has spaceship combat and customization but also 4x4 elements(scratches my civ itch as well). It is so addicting and fun taking over the galaxy in ever bigger ships. Seems a bit grindy but credits are easy enough if you invest heavily into piracy. That way you can board enemy ships and take them over from the inside while you keep fighting others.
You can also sabotage shields, weapons and engines from the inside and trust me the first time you face a ship in a tier above your own it can be the difference between victory and being space dust.

The game has lots of different game modes with all the dlc, two campaigns, several scenarios and plain old freeroam.

Why didn't i find this game before?

I'm a bit obsessed with the "Devil Came Through Here" series by Harvester games. I played the original Downfall back in 2011 or '12 or so but only ever watched other people play The Cat Lady and the Downfall remake on YouTube. Just learned the other day that the final installment in the series was released!

Kinda sucks butt that I've not been gaming (or reading, or practising calligraphy) as much lately, but this is pretty cool. If you've not seen anything of the series before, expect a great indie effort. Art style is to taste, but it's improved a lot in this new game it seems; voice acting was pretty shit the first two games in the series, hopefully it's better this time around.

Trigger warning btw, the imagery and themes can be genuinely disturbing.

Did you guys see the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal yesterday? Overall I enjoyed what I saw very much, I see that they've taken cues from Respawn and Doom 2016, yet maintained the identity of Borderlands.

"Captivated and disturbed" sums up how I felt going through the series so far, yeah :))

+1 excited dude for Borderlands 3. Generally speaking not a massive fan of FPS or over-the-shoulder shooters, but if it's got a great cast and story to it I'll likely bite— I've not played any Borderlands games so far surprisingly, outside of the Telltale one, think I'll have to go through the first couple games before playing 3 or will wiki skimming suffice?

    P.S.
What do people have against the Epic Store? @Taverius

They're doublespeak money-grabbing lying scum who are infecting pc gaming with the greatest cancer that console gaming has given us, exclusivity wars.

Those porkers won't be getting a single one of my euros.

Judging from BL2, having played the previous parts would help, but it's not a requirement. The devs are more keen on cooking in pop-culture based jokes in the game, rather than fan service. If you could get into the Telltale game, this shouldn't be much of a problem.

And I'm not a big fan of the exclusivity wars. If there's a Steam release, I'd rather wait for that.

I have an Epic Store account but only ever got the one freebie game I never played. If they're really that shit then might as well stick to Steam and GOG :))

I was wiki skimming through my play of the Telltale game but didn't feel like I was missing out on too much when I was just enjoying the ride. It was written pretty well as a standalone, so hopefully Borderlands 3 is forgiving in that sense too.

I'm actually hoping someone makes a sequel to Tales from the Borderlands because it ended on one hell of a cliffhanger. Maybe Skybound might pick that up too, haha.

Realized last week that there is a new Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines game coming up next year.
Hell I might preorder the game which is a first for me.

I didn't think Kojima's Death Stranding would be released in this decade, let alone November of this year. If I didn't work on a federal site, it would be a good time to take advantage of an extra liberty we have in Washington to get the most out of the game.

Tried Dota Underlords last night, pretty fun but I never played Dota 2 so I have no idea what most units do or just need to learn up on it.
