So getting back into gaming I pre-ordered an OLED Switch. However, I wanna play now so in the meanwhile I picked up a Switch Lite (with the plan of giving this to GF). I was expecting worse/negative for being a handheld only Switch, but it is super damn good for $200. I just wish the D-Pad was slightly bigger, but it is still very very useable/good for 2D games. This is great for kids or a GF who don't game that much and don't care for a TV.

Stalk me on Switch via Friend Code SW-0666-6501-4127. If you find user to be HBREW$GRAB it is me. I play normally with Wario on Mario Kart.

ER sits on the top of my list and Diablo 4 is below it.

After finishing The Ascent I've started Grime. Wow, what a soulslike gem this is.

For old farts like me with less than stellar eyesight, I’m wondering how legible some of the text and numbers are on screen? Especially on status bars and more cluttered UI. That was one of the biggest issues for me on the original Switch.

It’s been a long-ass time since I’ve played any mobile games, be they on handhelds or phones, but the Steam Deck seems pretty cool. I’d love to play Dusk on the go, as it plays pretty OK with a controller.

Price and availability seem to be the biggest obstacles there though…

You should avoid the switch lite. The screen is smaller and only works for me because my eyesight hasn't changed in 25 years.

Switch Lite is kind of small but it is very useable. I would spend more on the upcoming OLED Switch for that slightly bigger screen. Even with that, for some it might not be enough......

I just bought my kid a regular Switch, but thought that panels on this one and Lite are the same size?

5.5 vs 6.2 in. Honestly, I'd just wait for the OLED with a 7 in screen.

At this point it makes sense. At least I know I would if this was for me, but a 10yo forced me to proceed ASAP :D

D2 is my favorite game of all time and I've been very hype for the remaster.

Try out Project Diablo 2 (PD2) mod, it's really fun with some great changes to keep the game exciting after 2 decades.

I decided to replay Dishonored 2 recently for inspiration on another project. I forgot how damn good this game is, so few scratch this particular itch as effectively. I'm also a huge fan of the Deus Ex series, especially the original, but the old graphics make it less tempting to pick up again.

I'm working on an indie game that is trying a similar take on Dishonored's teleporting with some tweaks and different puzzles, hopefully we can do it justice.

Any other weirdos out there who played slash enjoyed Cruelty Squad? Between that and the Quake remaster, I’ve been in the FPS zone lately.

The Quake remaster is unironically one of my games of the year. It finally looks and feels the way I remembered it looking and feeling as a kid lmao.

I just started an interesting game called "12 Minutes" - I haven't progressed (at-all) yet, but it has a good cast and concept for those who are into time-travel paradox type stuff.

Anyone liked the Mechwarrior games from back in the day? Mw5 mercenaries with mods is a lot of fun. You can get mechlab addons that let you customize everything. Clan weapons and gear for your mechs. Etc.

Also has 4 player coop which should be fun too.

I always wanted to play Steel Battalion with that massive custom controller.

At the time it came out it was $200 and considered very expensive. But seeing the price of custom keyboards these days makes it seem reasonable.

From what I can see custom keyboards is far more butt-whoopingly expensive than it has any right to be due to how the secondhand market resembled the current GPU market on a good day; insane markups are par for the course.

For whatever you spent on this though so long as it's sustainable-- holy heck it's gorgeous! Still can't wait for when piloting mech armor becomes something feasible at home:

Steel Battalion! I remember saving up all my money in high school to buy that massive controller, back when it was still on the market.

It still pains me to remember selling most of my Xbox and Dreamcast collections off to pay for college. Most of that stuff if worth more than my degree now.

Only mobile game I've played was Penguin Isle before I switched phones. In all honesty, it's a thinly veiled ad delivery platform... but it had penguins and penguins and penguins and some relaxing music. Maxed out the penguin habits at the and had too many penguins for my phone to reliably run. Other than that, occasionally play FTL on flights but that's about it for me.

Otherwise, haven't found any new games in quite a while. Still mostly play Dota2, a few games a week.

For old xbox games, I want to find my old ninja gaiden games. Those were fun.

And nothing has come close since SB. I never had a Xbox so never picked up the set. Knowing me I would be stressed out with the buttons.
