wanting a magic pre-amp with everything

I'm a humble man @jexby and admittedly know little about the technicalities of audio gear. Educate, don't humiliate. Explain to me why the components/elements are conflicting/contradictory and why they wouldn't or couldn't work together. Appreciated, my friend.

Actually, I didn't really read your post properly, sorry. You were talking about contradictory elements in my post, not in my suggested piece of gear. Apologies for that. I know I'm not a great writer, but I didn't think it was that bad. You're a master of eloquence and composition, aren't you? Please point out the mistakes I made in respect to conflicting components and contradictory elements. I'll make the necessary changes if I agree that they're errors.

Get something like this, check the specifications, test it and have it checked. These old beasts are great.



The old analogue pre-amps are very versatile. Go for 70-ties to early 80-ties and cherish them.

It probably is best if you ban me @zerodeefex. For whatever reason a lot of people don't like me and there is dissent. I want what's best for SBAF and doubt that my presence is conducive to that. Marv works too hard to be distracted by a sideshow like this.

Some of your posts to me felt like spamming. You already knew that we "had what you are listening to" threads, but you made this one. There's a reason why I was acting like Smithers and posted It's Raining Men in that thread.

Your avatar makes me wanna punch it, I feel like you are one of those guys who post random nonsense 24/7. You were also being a tool in the past as well. And you keep PMing random staff here when they have much better things to do with their lives (you know, like working and doing family stuff). @Elnrik , I was here when then foundation of the castle was being laid. I know the lay of the land and the oft-repeated dive-bar analogy. Let me extend it a bit further. If you go into a bar you will see different groups of people happily chatting away to each other. Not all of these groups are going to get along. My problem was getting involved in a discussion with a clique that think I'm an asshole.

I was going to leave without further comment, but some constructive criticism is in order. The culture is too toxic, encouraging self-appointed police who don't seem to be aware of things that are going on in the background. There is also a proclivity towards group-hate. A person with influence takes the stick to someone and others join in. No doubt after this post the choir will be singing with lyrics like: "Yeah - don't slam the door on your way out" and ruder versions of "good riddance". This, too, is symptomatic.

Surely there is a better way of improving S/N. Perhaps certain threads could be visible to Randos & Visitors, but with only "Friends" being able to post. Anyway, culture is a difficult thing to change and takes time.

 

That's the most coherent and on point post I've seen you make. More please.

I’m not going to defend @Arnold_J_Rimmer (wtf is that username btw) but instead of “piling on” I might mention fwiw that he pm’d me trying to give away a tube for free in the fs forum because he didn’t have access as a newb.

probably should have just waited till he had access himself but I believe there were good intentions there.
