This is how you introduce greed to us dorks.

This is biggest f**k you Casio can make to disrupt the current luxury watch market. The best part is that Casio G-Shock actually receives a lot of respect from low-budget and big-budget watch collectors alike. Beautiful...

Yep. Like that one! It was that thing from the age in which designers were still wondering how to design stuff that displayed actual numbers. snf being rather clumsy-cum-boys-comic-book about it that I didn't like.

sold on eBay? Somebody bought it?

How did you list it? "Really ugly old watch that doesn't work?"

    ;):D

(I did some trading in odd bits of stuff when I was a schoolboy. I figured that if I was stupid enough to buy something, somebody else would be stupid enough to buy it off me. I was often wrong)

Almost bought that one. It was not water resistant enough so I went for the square G-Shock.

The great little brand Nomos just came out with their first sport model, the Club Sport Neomatik.

Looks great, it's 42mm, big but reasonable for a men's sport watch. Water resistant to 300m, it's on a bracelet which you could swap out for a strap easily. The automatic movement is made in-house and Nomos has a good reputation for quality. This model comes in around $4,500, iirc, around the cost of a Tudor, which it competes with (both are great) or a Breitling (surprisingly doing good work recently).

Niiice! I never really liked the Ahoi line, this is a much better execution IMO. Well done, Nomos.

This is my favorite of the new sport models, but comes in around 1K more, I think. Just killer. Nomos-Tangente-Sport-2.004.jpg

Not mine, just thought people would like to see it.

My stainless steel sports watch is a datejust with a smooth bezel to keep it understated:

You're not losing it. To me, they look like a different take on the Grand Seiko design aesthetic and Nomos. The watches will probably sell well given the trend to buy local and the popularity of the Timex line amongst hipsters.

I'm in no way knocking the brand or these watches in particular. I think Timex has made a smart business move by diversifying their portfolio and offering a more refined take on their core. Seiko and Casio have done this with their lines and been quite successful (see the Seiko vintage reissue line, most recently at Basel, or the upmarket G-shocks).

How does the watch wear for you?

So many cool watches I want to get.

Trying to decide between a Bulova Accutron Spaceview, Seiko GIUGIARO SCED043, and Casio G-SHOCK GMW-B5000GD-9.

All very different, all very cool. I might be leaning towards the spaceview, its cool with its tuning fork technology. Acoustics in use in a watch!

Go full Ripley. No one your age will have a clue about its origin story.
