Will have to upgrade to iPhone 8 for reasons I won’t bore you with.

I searched the web and gave up. Too much BS and nothing came up here. The only people I trust ;)

    thank you

The official Apple ones aren’t as overpriced as they used to be. You can snag one for $8 on amazon right now. The generic ones are only a couple bucks cheaper.

The official Apple dongle is going to be best small dongle out there. It measures well and its $9 direct from Apple (I’d buy direct to ensure I got the real thing). I ended up buying a few to keep in different places. In my estimation it’s not really worth investing a lot in a dongle, unless you need a good bit more power or you want bluetooth capability.

Agreed on the official adapter. Small, cheap, works well.

Third on the Apple dongle, especially if it's just for IEMs. I think most IEMs are pretty efficient and they'll sound fine.

Awesome that’s easy. Thank God for this community. Even trying to figure out if the stupid little dongley dingus sounds good on the internet is impossible. Opinions all over the place even about how it measures.

And I don’t trust anything Ken Rockwell says. He loves saying that crappy stuff is just as good as expensive stuff. Being a photographer myself I’ve had to smack myself reading some stuff he says.

Saved me from buying the 60$ Fiio adapter or this one which has LED’s all over it so it can communicate with Rex’s ancient aliens.

“hilidac has created the MQA-supported atom Pro which enables you to experience the abundant music details in the artists' recording room. atom Pro includes MQA Renderer technology, which can connect to an MQA Core signal and complete the final unfold of an MQA file. The atom Pro LED glows magenta to indicate that the unit is rendering an MQA stream or file. This delivers the final unfold of the MQA file. Featuring the ES9281C PRO chip from ESS, atom Pro is equipped with a crystal oscillator designed to provide best-in-class audio performance at 119 dB DNR and 0.0003% THD + N.”

Huh. That's pretty helpful to know, as someone who's trying to get better at photography.

Well some is good. He used to be better but has gotten arrogant and crazy.

One example: years ago like 2008 he said he uses some point and shoot digital for all his LANDSCAPE photographs because the images “look” just as good as his big DSLRs. We’re talking Nikon D3X at the time.

    My ass.

I used to follow Rockwell's stuff before someone let me know his comments on photography were largely out of line.

Then I saw he'd compared the DT880 favorably to the HD800; having heard both at the time I'm willing to admit that while the latter is too bright there's literally nothing else going for the Beyers in that comparison.

The iPhone dongle is literally the only source that doesn’t hiss with my Solaris or Andromeda.

Have you tried the Uber dongles like the ones I posted links to? Thanks for the info. Good stuff.
