I'm spinning this wax on my turntable as I type. Jack White's Third Man Records is inconsistent when it comes to the quality of their pressings, but this one is good! It isn't MoFi, but for a "non-audiophile" label, it is really good.

These are 3 of the purest people ever I swear. Look at that drummer's face and try to be mad. I dare you. Dude's long left earth for "planet happy." Those drums are his whole world. Like a 4-year old with his favorite thing ever.

Kenny Beats is a dude to watch in the hip-hop and 'indie' pop worlds. He's always bringing the chemistry with whoever he brings down to work with. Things just jive and it's like "That's the jam!" Always comes out catchy and fresh. It doesn't take much. Not super highbrow shit - no deep cuts, just surface-level stuff. Cool and enjoyable tracks that get stuck in your head. Half of the time it's nothing like what I usually like, but there's always something keeping me on it. His beats are pretty simple, but it makes him flexible - he can adapt to whoever he works with. And they always sound good, just the right touches to make them all pop without being annoying or 'cooked' to shit.

Dude just works too, he does like 3-5 one offs a month, and then another month later he'll have a couple more or even a joint EP with one of those artists. He's got a youtube show where he's always bringing the better-known up-and-comers to try and make impromptu tracks - it usually comes out funny, surprisingly-good, or both. There is a constant influx of stuff emanating from him... and it all sounds like you come to expect, but it's always a bit different from everything else out there. I bet it's fun in his studio. Every now and then he works with guys like Thundercat or Denzel Curry - two of my favorite dudes in that arena of experimental hip-hop and other things. One day I bet he'll work with everyone's favorite popular current artist in the mainstream pop and hip-hop scenes lol

This is off the eponymous "The White Stripes" - TMR042 by Third Man Records.

The needle-drop I made from this LP came out nicely.

I'm listening to the LP itself now, and I'm pleased with the mastering and the quality of the pressing.

Oh, and the music is bare-bones and fun, too!

East Coast Jam Band Festival Greats, Donna The Buffalo. I miss them most at New Years when they generally play at Skippers Smokehouse in Tampa FL . They used to have a secret third show the next Afternoon or Night. I did see them a Tuesday night in San Diego last year but that was the only time I have heard of them crossing the Mississippi.

EDIT: On Tidal In 16/44.1 FLAC

The White Stripes, playing "You're Pretty Good Looking (For A Girl) off of the album De Stijl. This is live at Los Angeles' Greek Theater in 2003.

Another nice pressing from Third Man Records - catalog TMR 032, released in 2010.

My needle drop was done on my old Kenwood KD-2070 with a Shure V15 Type III w/ SAS VN35HE stylus, and when I listened to it just now, I realized it pales in comparison to listening to the actual vinyl spun on my Technics SL-1210GR and Soundsmith Otello. Looks like I'll be re-doing some of my 2-yr old needle drops! Hopefully, I'll hear a difference.
