I learned about this work last week, and apparently this performance was in the church for which Haydn wrote the piece originally: the Church of Santa Cueva in Cadiz, Spain (source: https://www.classicstoday.com/review/review-14108/?search=1).

 

First single with Frusciante since Stadium Arcadium. Highly enjoyable album for me.

Perfect. I attended a festival in Montreal where Atom Egoyan did a live commentary while the film was playing. He all but broke into song. It was one of the best screenings ever. I LOVE this soundtrack.

 

Jpop star Hikaru Utada scheduled to appear at Coachella tonight.

 

@Pharmaboy turned me on to Scary Goldings & Scary Pockets. Every time one of their tracks come on, I just grin like a silly monkey. Not too far from reality actually...

Thanks for the Papa Hadyn reminder. Had this on LP years ago--the orchestral version & the choral version--listening to the latter right now on youtube. I'm SOL for the recent Savali recording because no SACD player & no Qobuz. But there are other good recordings available.

Who knew the harpisicord was so alive?

 

I've been listening to this song for over 20 years now. Beautiful, haunting and weird. It almost hits the point of self-indulgence, then completely grounds itself with the final line from the second party to the conversation. Love it.
