Crowded House - She Goes on

Neil Finn is truly a great song writer. Here are the lyrics:

Pretty soon you'll be able to remember her
    Lying in the garden singing
    Right where she'll always be
    The door is always open

This is the place that I loved her
And these are the friends that she had
    Long may the mountain ring
To the sound of her laughter
And she goes on and on

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
Till we see her once again
    In a world without end

We owe it all to Frank Sinatra
The song was playing as she walked into the room
    After the long weekend
    They were a lifetime together

Appearing in the eyes of children
In the clear blue mountain view
    We're coloring in the sky
    And painting ladders to heaven
And she goes on and on

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
Till we see her once again
    In a world without end

In her soft wind I will whisper
In her warm sun I will glisten
    And I always will remember
    In a world without end

    She goes on
    She goes on

His brother, Tim Finn, is a pretty good song writer too. The string arrangement is amazing.

Ive been going through year end lists to find things I missed

Disillusion is pretty great progressive/death metal from germany

White ward is sort of black metal, but its so much more, I don't normally like black metal

Immolation is death metal, another sub genre of metal I normally don't love, but damn is this album great

The work on the album cover is called The 12 Archetypes or The 12 Faces of Humankind. The colour pictures were painted by Tammo De Jongh in 1967. - per Wikipedia, but I don't think they'd make this up, so probably true. haha...

Suffering for the Sake of Your Art

    Alessandro Moreschi
When this recording was made Moreschi was about my age. Unlike me, a prepubescent Moreschi had his balls cut off so that his voice never broke. The last of the castrati.

Turning to Florence Foster Jenkins, it's more a case of the audience suffering for her delusions of grandeur. Here she is immortalised in a gramophone recording in glorious mono singing an aria from Mozart's Opera, The Magic Flute, "Queen of the Night". It's so bad that it met itself coming the other way and took on mythical status.

There's a tragic comedy telling the story of her life starring Meryl Streep.

Yes, I am sad, but glad I heard a song I have never heard before.

And glad to find Jennifer Batten- another rabbit hole to go down.

If you like progressive (but not "too" proggy) instrumental stuff, this is awesome.

Port Noir is my favorite indy band and their newest album is amazing. They recorded the whole thing without a click track and it gave a lot of the songs the vibe of a jam session that just went amazing. Whole album is great but Deep Waters, Sweet and Salt and Emerald Green were standouts for me. Loads of amazing guitar rifts and love the turbo distorted bass throughout the album. Figured I would share them here as its depressing that they dont have more views.
