Sometimes its best to have a Simple Mind!
Gave it a good listen. One of the worst songs about this topic. Are people so used to sweet sounding B.S. that they cannot give NIN or Metallica a listen? "Who can relate? Woo!" That line alone is enough. "Sitting At The Dock Of The Bay" by Otis Redding and "People Are Strange" by The Doors make a thousand times more sense than this mainstream B.S.
I will agree that the lyrics are not quite as mature or profound and the Woo is kind of uncalled for. The subject matter is deep and I honestly never considered what the song was about until I watched this serious video that almost had me in tears (I'm not crying, you're crying!).
Still...hard to compare new songs to classics. Only the best songs will stand the test of time.
What it boils down to me is that video's can add depth to a song that the music just cannot. Maybe I just grew up in the MTV generation, but lets face it, most video's are terrible. This one does not fit into that category.
And trust me, I am not a fan of most new music. Maybe this video changed my mind about this particular song.
I think music is just as good as it ever was if not better. It only seems worse if you only listen to the radio, which I never do.
I grew up with MTV, TMF and The Box before reality TV took over. It is not about comparing something new to something classic for me. When the artist in question does not understand the topic then he or she should not seriously address it like the way Logic and Co. do it. You want another example?
Back to depression. A good song about depression is this song. People sometimes deride this band but fuck it they hit the feeling on the nail with a giant hammer. That first album made a lot of sense, more than most albums will ever do for me.
P.S. Rest in peace Chester.
I am digging this release...
Dirty South, XV

... and I blame @bixby
Great f-in album!
Although the vinyl master sounds so much better - less bright and better low end.
@rtaylor76 Yes it really is a good one, I haven't heard it on vinyl yet though. I might have to run by the record store and see if they have It.
Good morning! Some days you feel like seriously getting things done...
Project Mooncircle is hands down my favorite label. They're good about uploading recent releases to YouTube. If you don't have Spotify etc., I recommend following their channel. Their shit is well-mixed.
Good Wednesday to you.
Love it ! Thanks for sharing.
